I really hope we get the ultimate edition with the upgraded 1st spiderman game. $79 is too much for a stand alone expansion.

    • Wait what? This is a expansion game?

      • "expansion and enhancement" - Sony

      • +2

continues from Marvel's Spider-Man and its downloadable content The City That Never Sleeps

In short, it'll be bigger than a DLC, but smaller than a sequel.

    • We do, but so far it's only at EB Games for $125…

      • Also at JB for $129 (with price guarantee).

  • +6

    demon's souls is $120 wtf!

    • Yep publishers of next gen games are trying to push for higher prices.

    • +8

      Bugs exist in beta.

      This will be the full-release.

  • +5

It's also coming to PS4, just FYI.

Horizon: Forbidden West and Sackboy will also be cross-gen.

I'm not surprised - the PS4 install base is just too big to ignore. But a bit of a bummer if you want to play games made only around the PS5's/next-gen capabilities.

    • OMG, Im so glad its on the PS4… Helps not spend $750 and stress to get a ps5. Big fan of spiderman but not $750 fan.

  • Is this a sale?

    • Merely a pre-order.

    • Cheaper than JB and EB, who are charging $94 and $95 respectively.

      • +1

JB has price guarantee too. Not sure about EB though.

        • +2

Ah I didn’t know that about JB. That’s good. Hopefully they drop their price and Amazon counter. That’s the best part about physical, some competition.

          • @sween64: This is among the several reasons why I pre-ordered the physical version.

  • +7

These prices are brutal, but I'm sure they'll drop before launch. Our days of $69 games at launch might be over, but stores are going to continue to compete with eachother and try to be the lowest. $80-90 might become the new norm.

That's at retail, of course. Pour one out for anyone who's buying the digital-only consoles and just signed up for $124.95 games all generation.

    • PSN sales are good though, just means you will never be able to play anything at release :S

      • They are only good for now because physical still exists to compete against.

    • Find someone with a staff discount :) Usually the Coles/Bigw/EB staff swap with each other. Bring something in return for them.

  • +1

So what is the go to PS5 launch game to get

    • +1

      is there one?

    • +3

      Bugsnax.

    • Battletoads.

  • Where is demons souls ?

  • +3

I knew game prices were going up $10, but Demons Souls being $119 is just flipping ridiculous

    • I think realistically, physical details games will be $89.

No one (except digital only fools) is going to pay RRP.

      • Digital only fool with a Xbox SAD here,

I got Tony Hawk day one for $49.38 digitally the other week. Region swapping pays.

        • It wasn’t day one but it was last week and Tony Hawk physical was $49 for PS4.

        • Dealing with region swapping, exchange rates, foreign PSN cards, and not be able to resell it, just so I don't have to get off the couch doesn't seem worth it.

          IMO.

          • @The Value: Don't forget waiting days on Aussie 'broadband' to download a 60GB game…

          • @The Value: I got the discless bc it was hecka cheap and I knew I'd be getting next gen soon enough anyways so I wasn't too fussed.

All I had to do was Google digital codes, found one pretty quick for just under 50 bucks about a week before release, was a US code though. Swapped my account to US, typed it in, swapped it back, finito. 20 bucks saved over buying the same game on the Aussie store.

    • $10 was US. Companies are deeming that US $10 to be a AU $20 to rrp prices. Dont forget current gen rrp was $99.99 even though many retailers had lower prices to start so there is your new rrp of $119.99

I was on the fence about getting a PS5 at launch, I was definitely getting a X or S (still unsure on which, but leaning toward X I guess), but now that it's known Spidey's coming to PS4, I'll just borrow a friend's PS4 for a few days, buy the game, plat the game, return the game, and be done with it.

First one was an easy plat over a day or two and if this is substantially smaller, well, easy cheesy. Might have to wait a bit for the buy and return though if all the stores are still gonna be closed come November :'(

Anyway, 79 is a joke, 79 for both this and the remaster would be a lot more easy to swallow.

    • Ultimate Edition (i.e. MM + Remaster) is currently $129 at JB.

      • Yeesh. Think I'll stick with replaying Spider-Man 2 for a while longer.

        • Love the damage control, its gold

So what's your reason for buying an Xbox Series X? Halo Infinite…..?

          • @Red Pandas: Damage control?

I said that the PS5 just lost it's biggest exclusive, and with it, my interest.
Then I said the price for it, being a smaller scale game was a joke.
Then in response to the DX edition's price that I'd just play a previous Spidey game for a while.

            Where the damage control lmao?

Also the reason would be having years of Game Pass, 525$ in EB credit that has to be used on preorders, and the backward compatibility of the Xbox series. I mean there's a shitload other reasons to choose Xbox over PlayStation too, but mine are mostly Game Pass and back compat.

  • Sony reduced the price of PS5 but raised for their titles for approx. 10 dollars each.

  • I dont mind it doesnt include the base game, but does it include the other DLC?

  • The (profanity) is this game so expensive for?

We were told it was similar to Uncharted Lost Legacy which was $44 on launch

    • All game companies are raising worldwide the rrp of their software.

  • Can anyone link to the Spiderman PS4 state of affairs? It starting to sound like there is a ps4 backwards compatible version, and then a "remastered" PS5 version ( that won't work with your old saves).

  • +1

Looks like Amazon has increased the price from $79 to $94, which seems to be an alignment with other retailers.
