Samsung S20 Plus 128GB $199/Note 20 Ultra 5G 256GB $899 Upfront on Telstra $99 150GB P/M 12-Month Plan (New / Port-in) @JB Hi-Fi

1030

Copied from previous deal.
Greetings everyone, just spotted that JB have placed the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus 4G 128gb on promotion on their $99 Per Month 150gb Plan.

Considering that this plan has a $594 Early Termination Charge(cdn.shopify.com), you could essentially get the phone for $793 (+pro-rated first month charge) if you cancelled the plan early :)

Think this is definitely the cheapest I've seen this phone before if you factor that in.

As always, enjoy!

Note: In Store Only, may exclude some Victorian residents.

        • @vchung916 did you port out before cancelling?

          • @inasero: No, just told the tel rep that I wanted to cancel the service (I used a new number when signed up).

            • +1

@vchung916: So you got the phone for $199?

              • @inasero: And still have $594 payable on demand

                • @vchung916: Any bill yet m8?

                  • @fd9: I did this whole process today and I was told it will take 1-2 billing cycles (months) for the bill to come through for the early termination charges.

                  • @fd9: No, still nothing from Telstra

                    • @vchung916: Same here. I literally want to give them money but they are sloooow.

  • I think the answer is no, but would triggering the early termination clause have any implications on your credit history?

    • They already do a credit check when setting up the account so I don't think there'd be any negative implications from cancelling early.

  • If I already have a plan with telstra can I still go in and get the S20+ on a new plan with a new number?

    • Yes. I'm with Boost and so showed up on their system as already having an account with Telstra…I just told them I wanted a new number and they went through with it no questions asked.

  • What if Telstra force you to pay full 12 months x $99 = $1188 ?? does anyone had issues cancelling same offer contract with Telstra ??

The only number you should be buying: SM-N986N

Can someone provide a step by step for the deal? First time. Regional Victoria is easing lockdown restrictions finally. Thanks

    • Yeah if I can get the S20 Plus for $793 (+pro-rated first month charge) I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I don't understand how.

      • Real easy, just did it for an S10. You just go instore and pay the $199 and sign up to the plan. Then the next day you cancel the plan and then the bill will come with the $594 Early Cancellation Fee.

When cancelling Telstra will keep giving a sob story, just say your cancelling and that is it. Good Luck.

Oh, just don't mention your going to cancel instore as sometimes they get a little agro.

When you say: "then the next day you cancel the plan", did you actually do in Telstra store or through live chat? Thanks

        • Oh so you get the phone instore?

        Consider changing your username?

  • Do you pay the $199 upfront at JB or do you pay it in your first bill?

  • OK so going off the information on the JB website:

    $199 Upfront. Pay to JBHiFi
$594 Early Termination Charges. Seems to be to Telstra.
    Total $793

I guess my only concern is if there's other details that need to be signed in the JB Store in regards to the handset. It wouldn't surprise me if they had a clause where if it you cancel it early you have to make certain repayments.

  • Do i have to wait a day to cancel or can I cancel the same day?

  • I just chatted to someone via the Telstra app. They offered me $20 off for the 12-month duration of the plan.

    ($99 plan - $20 discount) * 12 months = 948 total over 12 months

    Early termination fee is 594

    (948 - 594) / 12 = 29.5 per month for the Telstra mobile service. Not bad!

I was originally planning on paying the $594 cancellation and stick to my $25/month aldi plan. But the $20 discount is a no brainer to me.

    • What were you saying to get them to take $20 off per month? Also isn't this through JB?

      • +1

Sorry, I should have clarified that I had already signed up to the contract. I messaged Telstra two days after, explaining that I was unconfident about my ability to service the bill, and whether I could downgrade without penalty.

I got this deal yesterday, and the store associate told me that both S20+ 4G and 5G versions are available under this deal. It was a no brainer for me, and of course I got the 5G version for $200 down, and the Telstra $100 12 months plan. For anyone still planning to get S20+, jump on to the deal before stocks run out. I grabbed the last S20+ 5g from the store near my house in Sydney.

    • Did you cancel through Telstra already?

      • Nope. I am keeping the plan as my company pays for it.

    • The stores in Brisbane don't seem to be including 5G models

  • 10 dollars cashback with commbank rewards also.

  • They told me on the phone the bill (the early termination one) would come in 1-2 billing cycles. WTH does that mean rofl. I already cancelled it the day I got the phone and my service doesn't work anymore which I think means the cancellation went through.

    • Did you port or sign up with a new number? I think it can just take a little bit of time for them to process it. You'll probably get a call for someone trying to discount something to keep you on in the mean time.

      • Thanks for the reply. I signed up with a new number. Which has been cancelled now and won't accept any calls.

  • Thanks for posting this, scored one today and did the cancellation!!! Sweet phone for under $800
