  • This or Xiaomi Dreame?

    • +3

DYSON for sure. Best vacuum I've ever used

      • +4

        have you used Dreame?

    • Dreame V9 rates well and is a cheaper option but have heard it’s more comparable to the V6

    • +3

Try the Dreame as it's 67% cheaper (was $230 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/563708) and see if you're satisfied with before blowing huge money on a Dyson. I'm super impressed with mine.

      • +2

I had the Dyson V8 which got the pulsing issue (filter was fine) and now have the dream V10

You get more with the dreame, it looks aesyhetically better and more neutral if you care about the decor of your cupboard 🤣 and the dock is nice and easy..

TBH dreame wins on price inclusions and looks. Dyson wins slightly on suction but not by enough that I feel it matters

it has been around $500 or lower in the past…no deal

    • Not sure why people always have to make these comments. I’ve been following Dyson prices for a while On OzBargain and have never seen these mythical low prices.

      • +1

Not that low but I got mine at $640 more than two years ago, so not sure about this so called "deal".

        • +1

aren't they up to like V11, why is this series still so expensive?

      • You can do a search for when dyson v8 deals have been posted in the past. They aren't mythical.
        I bought a v8 absolute for $569.20 +1% cashback + 5x flybuys points.
Dyson's aren't generally investments and don't appreciate in price, but they would (i expect) be susceptible to currency fluctuations and other factors.
The v8's haven't been that low for a while, so while it may be a 'deal' in current times, I dare say some who are looking to purchase another are still going to hold out and wait for prices to drop to similar levels.
I need one for my mil. no way would i pay more for an older model (3rd gen from new) than what i paid brand new.

  • +3

Dreame V9 is better than Dyson V8

Good luck getting replacement parts or customer service from that Chinese owned company. Real pain the ass. I have a few Xiaomi products and all have had problems. Difficult to get any help directly from them.

      • I disagree and here's why.

so I buy parts for my Xiaomi products and have had no worries. They are usually very serviceable. Waiting a month is the only condition but if you are willing to pay more it's often likely Kohan etc can get you stuff sooner.

I got a spare jug and extra O ring for my Xiaomi pinlo blender

I got spare filters for my air purifier

I got more mob bottoms for my electric mop

I got more brushes for my roborock

I got literally everything for my m365 before I sold it too

I got a new gateway on warranty for my home automation when my aqara hub died

I even could purchase a replacement display for my mi notebook air when I submerged it in water (cheap repair as everything else still works now)

TBH there aren't many brands that sell their parts in so many separate SKU's

        Good on them

    • +4

Out of curiosity, have you actually owned and had first hand experience with Dyson support?

I've had various models over the last 10 years and each time they have sent me replacement parts (motors, batteries etc..) with minimal question, some even outside of the warranty period.

      • Ignore him. He downvotes everything I post and leaves negative comments on products he doesn't actually own.
I've never had a problem with my multiple Dysons. Their customer service is great too.

      • Yes, I own a V11.It's been good, touch wood.

My experience with Dyson support is current/developing. I'm supporting a work colleague on an "out of warranty" claim denial issue.

    • +2

Although it's already few weeks after warranty ends, they still send me a new Battery free of charge for V6 when the original battery dead. Maybe I was lucky.

And I found the Genuine Replacement Parts is fairly price compare to other "Premium" Brand. https://www.dyson.com.au/dyson/parts/step3/id/352/

I won't buy a v8 though, it's just not powerful enough to be my main vacuum(I got a cinetic big ball), and too pricey as a vacuum to do the small jobs(got a cheap v6)

Maybe better to spend a little bit more and get a v10 when it's on discount. (I got one for my mate for $699 2 years ago from the ebay plus deal)

    • +1

I'm not sure I agree with your interpretation of that ACCC media release. The article is about Woolies getting hit with the ACCC stick for not fulfilling their warranty obligations under Australian Consumer Law. In this case it was Woolies who were doing the dodgy by trying to shift their warranty responsibilities on to Dyson. There's nothing in that article to suggest anything about Dyson's support - either good or bad.

      • -1

I can only find the ACCC s87B (enforceable undertaking) and not Woollies' response to the complaint.

To paraphrase, there was a reason why it was only Dyson products where their consumers were being directed back to the Australian distributor.

      • -2

Ignore him. He posts negative comments like this on ALL of my posts. I doubt he actually owns a Dyson product

        • +1

Please BLOCK ME if you find my input on the site annoys you.

          and

please dial-down the hyperbole and stick to facts.

You have posted four deals - two of which have been for products I know and understand.

I have provided commentary to help others and not attack you. I honestly don't care who you are or what you're seeking to get from your participation on this site, but my input is never personal (except for the known two letter troll user on OzBargain) and shouldn't be taken as such.

  • +3

Not a deal. My V10 Absolute Plus (a bunch of accessories and charging station included) was bought for $789 before Xmas 2018. Think about it and you know why this is not a deal at all.

      • +9

Deal or not depends on how much it is really worth and how much we need to pay for it. The closer they are, the better the deal would be. Deal is about the true value of a product, not a game of numbers. If the original price tag was $999 shall this deal become even better? Oh lord $300 saving! Makes sense?

And since when we must like the deal so as to be qualified to comment? Community rule? That's funny I didn't even say I like it or not. You posted it, and the community thank you for your contributing. But it doesn't stop me from sharing my experience. I just told the truth for everyone's info. Why can't I comment? Because truth hurts? or truth makes it less appealing?

BTW I didn't neg the deal, but 3:2 by far is more than enough to justify. Ignoring the 2 downvotes it's still not a good deal at all.

        • +1

THIS. OzBargain needs to implement Reddit-style coins so that insightful comments can be given the recognition they deserve.👍

I made a similar point to you almost 18 months ago.

            @[Deactivated]:

I made a similar point to you almost 18 months ago.

Your point was that the RRP is inflated, which can be said for the majority of products on the market today.

Not everybody is eligible for or has access to employee discount programs, therefore, whatever you paid for a Dyson vacuum is irrelevant and shouldn't reflect what others are prepared to pay.

            • @magic8ballgag: My point was the amount of gross margin they are working with. Knowledge of the margin allows consumers to address some of the power asymmetry in the transaction.

Whether you have access to an EPP isn't the point.

I just bought a car. 5mins of research to find out what the fleet discount value was allowed me to confidently negotiate a further $2K off the driveway price we'd gotten down after previous haggling. I'm not a fleet buyer. Not even close.

If others want to pay RRP I'm not going to stand in their way.

Of course, but simply knowing that there's a margin won't bring the price down.

That is different, you cannot negotiate pricing with an online retailer that sells vacuum cleaners, and physical retailers like JB/TGG will only budge on pricing a certain amount.

You know there's a point in between getting the best possible deal (not guaranteed), and paying RRP, right?

                • @magic8ballgag: Keep on doing whatever you're doing. I'm out of patience/energy to debate this further.

                  Cheers

the logic about not replying if you aren't interested doesn't quite make sense to me. I considering myself the bargain hunter but was saved a few months ago by someone commenting negatively on a deal i believed was a deal (as most would if they didn't have more information), instead i held out and a month later i saved myself over $100. This isn't about protecting peoples feelings on a post its about getting some bargains, yes some people just comment negative to be difficult but a lot don't.

  • +1

ive seen this go down to this on Dyson and on ebay a few times in the past month or 2… ive been watching them recently. Gave up waiting for them to drop to the historic unicorn low price (also the V10 was 699 just a few months ago and keeps popping up at 799). After holding out i just bought a roborock h6 for $470 off amazon from roborock AU via amazon. Happy with my purchase considering price to performance, will see how long it lasts though as my Dyson DC44 animal still going (bar the battery) since 2014.

  • +1

To be clear. I’m not saying this one is not a deal.

Just I don’t understand… this one was listed $499 at Dyson eBay store on 7 April. Why is it becoming even more expensive than that day?

  • +2

so this one is absolute version that comes with a soft roller cleaner head which is more expensive than other V8 variants. but $699? Nah I paid $720 back in 2017

  • -1

Not a deal ! Discount on inflated price to bring it back to normal price does not mean a bargain

    • Don't look at the Coles and Woolies 50% off specials then :)

      • You can say that :)

  • bought it for $389.40 similar time last year….TGG had an ebay sale during black friday sale. albeit the animal version (less heads)….

    • +1

personally I would prefer more head than less

  • Not a good price at all

  • +1

We are at 2020 Q4 so maybe a good deal at $499

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/501177

  • Yeah Dyson V10 Absolute has been this price multiple times in the past.
