    Now should I trade my PS4 Pro in for it. I have PS4 Pro and One X and both the PS5 and Series X are compatible with all the same games they are. Even PSVR will work on PS5.

    Or should I pack the PS4 Pro away and wait for someone to make a jailbreak for the firmware it is on.

          Physical games are pretty much always cheaper from JB, Amazon etc. You'll end up paying more in the long-run if you lock yourself into only being able to buy games from PS Store.

          Figured that was a reason for me to go with the physical version lol, that and almost all my PS4 games are physical too for the same reason, so wouldn't be able to play any of those on PS5 if I go digital.

              @ThithLord: Haha yeah good idea. And just think of it similar to current pricing, PS Store still sells games at $100 and most retailers sell them at $69 at most, sometimes cheaper. After 5 physical games you'll already make back the difference you would have saved from the digital console.

        I've read that both PS and Xbox have had covid related supply chain issues so I'd be shocked if there were any 'day 1' discounts.
        Edit: Sorry missed the first part of your question. Not sure about pre-order but I got my xbox one shortly after launch from JB-HiFi in a bundle with ~6 games. I think it was one of these bundles

    How's this for bargaining. Just pre-ordered from Target for $749.
    Using my team member discount card - Total $711.55
    Used $700 in gift cards at 6% off - Total $669.55
    Used $10 flybuy dollars at checkout - Total $659.55
    Also, I set aside $390 from grocery budget this year by redeeming Flybuy Dollars/Woolworths points for groceries instead.
    In total, I paid of my own money $279.55 for the PS5.
    Now I just need to sell my PS4 Pro.

        Not really. The points are a bonus to whatever I was already going to buy. I don't go out of my way to earn bonus points, just activate offer without paying attention to what they are.
        I have a coles mastercard so 2 points for every $1 I spend no matter what I buy (including paying bills) / where I shop. And one of my friends with a large family actually uses my flybuys card so that's a ton of points. $70 worth showed up yesterday from bonus points that I know she earned for me as I haven't even been to Coles in over 2wks.

      Honestly the XBOX has better specs etc but i do not think the demand will be as high, lack of any 1st party launch games etc is an issue for them

        Won't be an issue at all. The majority of people don't care about exclusives, they care what their friends are playing on. Next to that, people just get both.

        There will be plenty more XBS1/SS available than the PS5, and they'll also allocate them overtime between their pre-order launch and the release launch.

        Retailers will most likely remain sold out once they are, but the official store will periodically have more stock for pre order each week or so.

    To my suprise my daughter has pre ordered the PS5 from EB Games (she pre ordered too late to get it from Jb Hi Fi)

    And my son who I though would of put in a pre order said he can wait till they release some must have games like the new God of war

      You have to have pre registered PRIOR to the PS5 Pre Order Launch
      They have sent out emails to people who were registered prior and invited them to place and order (and pay in full)
      My neighbour has done his order with them through this process.

      He has a confirmed order for launch day

      The Good Guys has launched its PS5 pre-orders through a different mechanic. It seems as though you needed to have pre-registered your interest before today. If you did, then you should then get an email in your inbox (if you haven’t already). You then need to fill in a form, then they’ll verify your order within the next few days and then you’ll be asked to pay in full over SMS. These appear to be launch units, but you must pay within 24 hours of receiving the text

      only people who had pre registered before this week were invited so far

          Yes but he had registered quite early on and he got his email then his sms the following day.
          he clicked a link and paid in full.
          he had done the "fill out this form for updates" weeks ago and then when TGG went live with their own pre orders he was contacted

          He simply filled out the "register here for updates" quite some time ago.
          His email was something like we see you wanted updates on PS5 we are now accepting pre orders for those who had expressed an interest.
          Click here to fill out this form and if successful in securing a pre order we will be in contact in a few days with further instructions (or something like that)

      Like ive done the preorder form on Monday that I got emailed but I just haven't heard anything back. Like I emailed them about it and they said I should've gotten an email on Wednesday about whether or not I was successful but I haven't gotten anything.

          No that's just the registration of interest. They send you an email inviting you to preorder and that's the preorder form.

        same they say from 12th November but given how they had the invite system and how they sent SMS after application approval I would assume there is a good chance they have allocated stock from the first batch

          I just got my payment SMS and secured mine.

          My guess is that they sent out emails to those who registered based on their initial allocation, some of those people would have secured one though other retailers so once they work out what’s left from their initial drop they will continue to offer them to the next lot on the wait list.

      Hey guys just wanted to know, if you get that email and follow the link and fill the form out before the cut off date stated on the email (which I have done) does that mean I will definitely receive a SMS or is there still a chance I won't? I did it on Tuesday the 29th of September and it is now Sunday the 4th October without any SMS.

        There is still a chance you won't They don't guarantee that you get the SMS as it is pending approval. It takes 5 working days( i got it on the 6th day ) so I would wait it out ! and hope for the best !. Good Luck :)

      Just got my text and paid. Initially I selected delivery in Syd and whilst paying I didn't see any option to change to store pick up.
      Not sure whether this is launch stock - doubt it, but regardless, it's done now :)
