Men's Draft Bundle Motorcycle Leathers - Jacket, Pants, Gloves $221 Delivered (Was $450, Possible Price Error) @ Shark Leathers

180

Went to order this bundle on Tuesday and noticed after adding it to my cart it was only $221. This price is cheaper than the jacket alone! I received the items yesterday and they are perfect! Just wanted to make sure I actually received them and they didn't cancel the order before posting it up and wasting everyone's time! I just put a week for expiry as I have no idea if/when they will fix this!

Please be careful. Motorbike accident outside our house this morning. Don't know how serious it was but they've painted white dots on the road so presumably not good

    • I don't know who would neg a safety reminder. If you don't take safety seriously that's just crazy.

please be careful whilst driving also. I saw someone almost get t-boned this morning.

Pretty average reviews for these around product quality (falling apart after a few uses.. not the sort of thing you'd want to wear if you come off a bike on an asphalt road.) https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/shark-leathers

Just a FYI - "Shark Leathers" is not related to the Shark company who make helmets. Shark helmets are well regarded and range from low-mid price up to high quality and are pretty well regarded for safety. Shark Leathers are a budget brand, and may or may not be good. On the face of it these look good from the pictures, but its worth doing a few searches on forums to see other people's opinions - there seem to be some very mixed responses.

    • 100% I did see peoples reviews on them and it did raise some concern but for the price I thought I may aswell just check them out. On product review most of them are not even verified. The set i received looks absolutely perfect and it was delivered in 4 days! I have been happy with my purchase anyway. Hope if anyone else orders that they have the same experience!

    • OT: How's your electric bike holding up? What's the range with those Ozito batteries?

  • +1

These don't appear to be leathers. It's just mesh and textile gear.

In any case, great value for a new rider. Better to have some gear than none.

I've already got way too much gear otherwise I'd jump on this. Terrific price.

Looks to be back to $450.

I just tried after you posted this and its still saying $221 for me. Did you add them to your cart?

    • it says 450 but when you add the 3 items into your cart and check out, it goes to the special price

  • Came up as $221 for me. Fantastic deal for a beginner or anyone looking to add some extra protective gear. Personally I would save up for higher quality protective gear though.

Spend more people, seen all sorts of injuries, people with metal plates as skulls

    • +3

Only helmets with prevent metal plates in skulls

Please invest in decent gear, I have read too many stories of this stuff coming apart in a slide

They’re actually free. Just say “I need your clothes, your boots & your motorcycle”

You better be naked when you say that …..

  • If you are on a budget, buy this. Better than being a squid.

If you can afford a little more, wait for the ALDI sales. At least the ALDI gear is CE rated and tested.

Actual leathers with armour are always going to beat textile gear.
Mesh jackets are pretty weak in general.

    • Got some of the Aldi gear and it is decent quality.
Motorcycle gear is usual on sale mid to late August from Aldi though so, as others have said, this is better than nothing if you can't wait that long.

    • At least the ALDI gear is CE rated and tested.

Be very careful with CE ratings on motorcycle equipment. You need to pay attention to the actual rating - specifically what it applies to, and what rating it's actually achieved. It's a minefield if you don't know what you're looking for.

This website has a pretty good breakdown: https://www.motorcyclegear.com/info_pages/faq_armor_ratings_…

    • Has the aldi sale came about yet this yr for motorbike apparel?

  • +2

Fwiw, I have not had good experiences with this brand. In my opinion, the quality is basically 'cheap ebay' level, but with a "new brand" mark up.

From my experiences, the Aldi stuff is far more durable and is therefore safer during an accident - eg, threads and seams that wear out quickly under normal use fall to pieces on an impact/during the first few moments of a slide.

Cheap? About what it's worth imo. Durable/safe? Subjective, but definitely not for me.

  • Do you guys think it should illegal to wear regular clothes when riding over 60km? I've seen riders with shorts during warm days.

    • +5

Nope, let them be temporary residents. I don't want legislation saying i get a fine if i am not wearing xyz clothing.

      • I do understand that but these people that kill themselves aren't the ones that need to scrape them off the road

    • Would be very hard to police though.
There’s only so much you can do about people’s stupidity.

    • No.

      Squids seal their own fate.

    • +1

No, not at all.. The ONLY requirement for a rider is a helmet..

I often ride around in shorts during the hot months..

As for scraping ppl off the road, how many u reckon were wearing shorts? I bet they're generally the fully leathered 'weekend warriors'… Leather doesn't stop u from dying btw..
