  • Is this good for pew pews?

    • Nah, does not appear to have active amplification of speech.

Also I tend to assume anything that calls itself "class 5" but doesn't advertise a NRR is the lowest (26.)

      • Do you have any recommendations for a good range earmuffs?

        • Howard Leight Impact Pro, but if I look on Amazon they are way overpriced right now.

        • +1

3M worktunes. 2 versions available. With Bluetooth and AM/FM or AM/FM only version. They are not cheap.

For no electronics 3M Peltor. Can go up to 34 Decibel protection. Easier to find the 31 and 33 Decibel version.

          • @g1: I use Peltors at work, they are fantastic and reasonably comfortable

        • I got Walker’s Razor for my wife and I use HL Impact Tactical (same as Sport). I find the larger muffs interfere with cheekweld for me, but that might be different for you, and I double up with earplugs if at the range next to a muzzlebrake.

The sound quality is better on the Razors, but the Impact Sport have directional sound and better amplification of quiet sounds. I prefer the Razor for the range and Impact Sport for hunting.

      • As I said I know zilch about the product but I did notice when looking for comparative prices that TT had them advertised 12 months ago with this info:

31dB rating - whatever that means

Edit: Apparently 31dB is the highest rating for ear muffs and class 5 is the highest level of protection.

        • That's pretty good then, I take it back.

  • I try to click and collect, but it still charge me postage fee.

    • Click on delivery, then click on click n collect. Thats what worked for me..

  • I just use QC35 NC headphones while mowing the lawn. Wild these be any better from a durability/noise perspective?

    • When they break, you don't care as much

    • +3

Yeah QC35 isn't actually protecting your hearing at all. They are not muffling, just noise cancellation.
Wearing them while operating a mower is borderline, depending on how loud your mower is, but anything louder like power tools and you will be damaging your hearing using them.

      • I know it's not class 5, but QC35s must muffle noise at least a bit.
I've tried in ear headphones under earmuffs, and I reckon my Taotronics BH-22's made it easier to hear (so you listen at reduced volume).

      • Just using an electric mower, so not super loud, and because it's a pretty constant noise, NC headphones do an OK job of cancelling it out.

  • No stock / delivery for me in Brisbane

    • +1

      No stock in Melbourne either.

      • Hi happykamper,
Tried to order, no C&C for me in Mel, but can get it delivered for a fee, do you want to try again and see how it goes ?
        Cheers,

        • Thanks for the reply, I did check delivery option and not available for me either. Ah well.

    • Quick check and stock in Canberra and Sydney if it helps anyone

  • I have a set of isotunes are highly recommend them. They are only 27db, but cause they are in-ear plug type, you can wear muffs over them.
Only downside is the battery life is so-so (8-9 hours is my best)
Haven't used these, but if they are only 26db then you will end up blasting your music to hear it properly.

    • 31dB, Class 5

  • I can't even get them delivered, out of stock for delivery.

No TT near me and the closest 50km away has no stock 😬

I've got the 3m worktunes which are great but they do NOT have built in radio only Bluetooth.

  • Shipping & Handling $31.76 ffs…

  • Looks the same as these:
Protear Rechargeable Lithium Battery Bluetooth & AM/FM Radio Safety Earmuffs

    NRR: 25db

  • Look at Zohan on aliexpress most are around the NRR of 22 to 26 (alone not good enought) but team them up with a good pair of plugs and it is a safe way to head to the range. Even with really good muffs it's not a bad idea to have the plugs in. I bumped my cap and knocked my muffs off last time i was at the range so it was lucky i had my plugs in as well (was next to a guy with a muzzle brake).
