    It's WAR i say

( Hopefully only between Coles and Woolworths!)

Oh well, woolie spend $30 get 10c discount and coles needs to spend $100 don't seem that's bargain.

But I still thanks for letting us to know.

They trump them with the 15cpl discount. Noone offering that other than Coles = bargain :)

Yes but how would you spend $150 at Coles - their products and selection are rubbish compared to Woolworths. 15c discount = $7.50 for the average person (50L). $7.50 = 5% discount off $150 spend. Hardly worth it.

        • Not going to debate on product selection as plenty of people buy their groceries at Coles so they must have something worthwhile. If you were already spending the $150 on groceries, which is about 1/2 a trolley these days, and filling up your car, which most people do at least once a week, then all those people would probably prefer the $7.50 be in their pocket than Coles.

Coles is great for the working classes who care about price more than quality. Coles meat/poultry is inferior to Woolworths. They are in bed with certain companies like John West (canned tuna etc), meaning you can't get Greenseas at Coles. Woolworths home brands are better. Their own brand cranberry juice is just as good as any name brand - Coles don't even offer any of their own. Coles cater to the lowest common denominator.

I find it depends on the area… Our local Coles is pretty awful, though our Woolworths is good…but 10km away it's the reverse, with a Coles that trumps Woolworths in every respect.

WTF? When did this Woolworths 10c deal for only $30 start? I bought $39 worth of stuff from them 4 days ago and it only says 8c discount on my docket?

      • +2

Woolies version is this weekend only…

My local coles is offering 10 cents for $30…

edit: now that i think about it…i might be wrong

  • no wollies around my joint, got 2 coles though. thanks op for the post. any discount is better than no discount =)

  • Does anybody remember what the average petrol price was when the 4 cent discounts were first introduced? I suspect that in percentage discount terms you would need to be getting 10 to 15 cents off a litre to be comparable. I also suspect that if Coles and Woolies had not entered the petrol market then prices would not be at the high levels we see today (usual inane comments about the price of Tapis crude and level of Aussie dollar notwithstanding).

    • Agree. The price of ulp has gone up from $1.33 to $1.44 in melbourne when this deal comes in today. Normally Saturday is the cheapest day, but price has gone up instead this week!

      • Use the vouchers to purchase LPG. Savings almost 20% on your already lower fuel bill is quite nice.

    • Inane? Why do you consider that the price of Tapis crude does not apply to us? We don't pay the Brent crude price, and neither do we pay the West Texas Intermediate price. We're locked into the nearest major market in terms of pricing.

I read American based oil web sites regularly and comes across lots of moaning about high gasoline prices, rising margins, etc. The same occurs in Europe as well. I don't quite get why people assume we're unique in Australia in regards to rip off petrol prices due to supermarkets entering the market. Why doesn't BP offer much cheaper fuel and undercut the supermarket based competition?

      • Sorry Cluster you are missing my (perhaps cryptic) point - whenever oil company spokesmen talk about high prices they always say it is out of their control and is determined by the price of Tapis crude and the Australian dollar. My observation in recent years is that a weakening tapis crude price and a strengthening dollar exerts no discernable downward pressure on prices at the pump.

Well fellow Ozbargainers, I just got a 10c off and a 15c off voucher for free. Putting my trolley away very kind people had left their dockets in the bottom of two trolleys, so big fuel discounts for me.

    • Whoot Whoot

trolley diving, the real ozbargainers do it

I can now see Ozbargainers camping at the car park and following people with big loads of shopping..haha :)

      • Sorry, I thought that was what you were meant to do. Damn, have I been wasting every Saturday morning for a few dollars discount? Come to think of it so did the people who went looking for the $2 extension ladder at Kmart.

  • Just bought 75 cans of Sirena tuna for my 15c off docket!

    • I hope you like tuna :-)

      • Um i think Bob has covered 75 friends Christmas gifts…
