Is it gold plated?
I guess these are good if you need a compact tool set - but you can get a large spanner set for much less. My 38 piece stanley spanner set cost less than this.
The 'rachet' feature of these seems pretty good though.
Got a single one of these from a previous deal. Very useful for either gripping or unscrewing.
THESE ARE GOOD FOR METAL WORK BUT FOR INTERROGATION I FIND THEM A BIT CUMBERSOME.
might be your shouting. Try inclusive calm interrogation.
Ahh, so that's Jack Bauer's hobby in his 30 seconds of downtime
why so expensive?
Quality tools are funny like that.
My mum when she was alive would always say 'we are too poor to buy cheap'. We grew up comfortable middle class. I get it now, old man would have a washing machine mechanic visit the house once a week to fix some $40 pos he'd picked up at a garage sale. Always stuff getting repaired. Always another $100 on top of cost price. Big part of why I'd drop 2k on a washing machine today even if it really hurt. Always works out in the long term - I see tools absolutely in that same light.
It is not what most people think these days.
"Buy once, cry once" is what I try to stick to.
I have the 5" version and it's amazingly well-built.
@seamonkey: Yeah, but unlike those with the 7.25" version my 5" version can be manouvered into tighter spots…what were we talking about again?
They are good
Nice tools, but expensive. Most people will not need the full set of three. I have the middle one in the range (7 1/4") and I think it will be sufficient for most tasks around the house or workshop (jaw capacity 0 to 35mm).
Get it for $63.62 here:

The smaller one (5") is pocket sized and good for everyday carry (jaw capacity 0-19mm). The 10" version has a jaw capacity of 0-44mm. You can also get 12" and 16" versions.
Read the reviews in the Amazon link above - these are very good tools.
Just get the size you need.
I think this design is out of patent now and Irwin make their own now. This probably explains the price drop. I'd buy knippex though. I do a Irwin tools though, mainly vice grips.
These three pliers are more expensive than my entire chest of tools. Plus my tools double up as tools and cheese
