EGO 56V 7.5ah 52cm Self-Propelled Mower Kit with 56V Blower Skin $1149 + Shipping @ TradeTools

100

Sounds like a bargain. Not sure if Makita version is better or this.

Essentially, they are throwing in the current blower which is about to be replaced soon with newer more powerful version which has already been released in USA.

Costs about $60 for shipping to Melbourne.

Edit….I have found out they will have a free battery promo coming up again from Oct to Dec. Could be best to hold off for another few weeks.
Edit….Looks like deal will expire by Sunday 27th Sep 2020.

Edit…..DEAL ALSO AVAILABLE AT TOTAL TOOLS.

Edit…… NEW SELECT CUT MODEL HAS ARRIVED….BETTER BUY THIS INSTEAD BUT NO BLOWER. Wait until Oct to buy to get bonus battery redemption.

Doesn't look like they have any drills or other handheld power tools, just something to think about.
They do have other garden maintenace tools that look like the batteries can work in, but won't be as versatile as the other 100+ tools with 1 battery thing that other brands implement.

Edit: But also, these are much larger and more powerful batteries so would work better.

    • That's true. Milwaukee fans been waiting for a mower for so long. Makita wins with the number of tools available on their 18v platform.

      • Makita wins with the number of tools available on their 18v platform.

Not sure I'd want an 18v lawn mower though.

        • This is 36v. Runs off 2x 18v batteries. Reviews look fairly solid.

      • As a Makita owner, Ryboi beats everyone by a pretty sreious margin in terms of broad range.

        • That's because Techtronic creates a tool for literally everything they can get away with (AEG, Ryobi, Milwaukee, Vax, and Hoover are all the same company - Techtronic Industries in China)

        • Once I tried Milwaukee, I sold of all my ryobi. Chalk and cheese.

    • Yeah you would want to use these batteries in a hand tool, way too heavy and bulky. The 7.5AH is about 3kg. But that's also what makes them ideal for yard tools.

They also make a 28AH backpack for commercial use.

I've got the whipper sniper and blower (from Masters) and a hedge trimmer from trade tools. Used them often enough.
Recently, I noticed I could switch on the hedge trimmer just pressing the trigger on the carry handle and not the dual-trigger (for safety).

Contact EGO and they immediately offered to send out a new replacement (upgraded model) and had the courier pick up the "faulty" one. Very happy with the EGO service.

    • +1

who needs a bloody blower seriously

I guess at least seven people based on the amount of negative votes you've received.

    • +1

Are you serious? How else would you clean out the floor of your shed?

      • +2

Ants and rats - free too.

  • +2

Got this mower a while back (So my son could mow the lawn!) and whilst it is pretty expensive, it's a real beast. Battery life is great and it has at least as much power as I've ever used in a petrol mower and far more than you get from a $500 electric mower. Can't comment on the blower as I only got the mower, but if it's the same quality as the mower it'll be good.

  • +5

Better hold off. Another Oct to Dec 2020 battery claim promo is happening next month.

    • will they still be giving a free blower with it?

      • Dont know. But if u get the makita deal, u will have the blower from that.🤷‍♂️🤣

  • what's wrong with a simple broom?

    • +11

you tried using a broom on grass mate?

      • I think you use a rake on grass mate…

    • +1

I would pay $1149 to see you mow a backyard with a 'simple broom'.

    • +2

I used to think this way, then grudgingly tried a friend's blower.

Changed my life and bought one soon after. You might not agree but the time saved is, for me, worth the money.

  • how much is this mower worth on its own?

I will probably stick to the old fashioned rake for the leaves.

    • +1

$249 blower + $1149 mower battery kit = $1398 so basically they are trying to clear blower stock which make this combo

      • wow that is one expensive mower. Ouch. Was going to buy an electric mower but in the $500 range.

        • +1

Yeah I know but I own Ego Powerloads trimmer which it is completely different game changer compared to a typical trimmer. It is so much easier to wire the cord into the trimmer and surprisingly powerful too so I guess this comes to convenient and technology that comes in a price tag

          • @BlackorRed: I have one of their trimmers too and it’s good, but I just can’t come at over $1000 for the mower. I think they’re still in the ‘get all the early adopters at premium prices’ stage.

            • -1

@wfdTamar: Yes, this price is insane, I'd rather prefer something similar but half price: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/543465 without the blower but only 5.0Ah battery

              • +1

@BlackorRed: Self-propelled mowers add a level of complexity, convenience and cost that make the model you link an unfair comparison.

It's also a got a smaller cutting diameter and battery size.

                • -2

@UncleRico: I only mentioned the price that I could think it's okay for me to buy, i'm not justifying between models, I understand battery size and Self-propelled are added to the price

                • @UncleRico: what does self propelled mean? You don't have to push it?

                  • @lostn: Yes. U steer. U have a cruise control and select how fast u want to go.

                    • @djcharliek: is it that hard to push it yourself? That's how I used to do it with a petrol mower.

                      • @lostn: Nope. I still have my Honda Buffalo Bull. It is push only.

  • +1

I have this mower and the blower, which has variable speed control with a turbo boost button, it's just as powerful as any petrol blower, without the smell and the noise.

Hold off until October for the battery redemption to kick in, you should be able to get a 5 a/h battery for free, which is what I got in the last redemption when I bought this mower.

    • do they both use the same battery or different? If different, is the battery for the blower or the mower?

What material is the catcher made of? It looks like leather which is not good. I want hard plastic like with a traditional mower.

How long does the battery last on both?

      • EGO only have 1 type of battery that fits all their tools. Only the capacity varies. Blower is nice and quiet.

        • wouldn't that make it heavy to hold the blower?

        • the blower and mower each come with their own battery right?

          • @lostn: The mower yes but don't think so for the blower.

  • +3

I bought a mower just outside of a previous free battery promotion period and they said just submit the claim and they will assess it. They decided to give me a free battery even though I knew I didn't qualify for the promotion. Great company and gardening products :)

    • how long does the battery last?

      • Long enough to do your lawn. I recharge batteries on my solar panels so variable cost is pretty much free for me.

  • +1

Wanted a deal with the Select Cut model…

    • Probably just the battery promo next month.

    • Is the select cut out in Australia yet?
I'm ready to replace my Ryobi 36v but want the newer model.

      • +2

Yes. Friend of mine bought one early this year. Interestingly it wasn't not on their website and the store he bought from had to order in for him.

        • +1

Thanks, think I'll call the stores direct then. The select cut seems to have a lot of nice upgrades so may as well get the latest

          • +3

@cook99: I checked with him again and turns out it wasn't a select cut… somehow I kept thinking it was… Apologize for the incorrect information.

The good news is that he showed me an email from EGO, confirming that the select cut is to be released in Australia on 15/9.

            • +1

@davidl820: Thanks for confirming, perfect timing for me to wait it out. Might be some good bargains on existing models as they clear stock coming too.

      • +1
        • Thanks xare, yeah none in local WA stockist site yet but will call around if 15/9 is happening

        • why do they use a soft fabric catcher? That thing is going to have holes poked in it and be hard to clean and dry.

          • @lostn: I thought the same thing with my Ryobi 36v which has fabric catch. 8 years on and there is one small tear only which doesn't impact anything so I wouldn't worry.

            • @cook99: The thing that bothers me was not the fabric catch but the dust that comes out from it.

Everytime after mowing the lawn I have to clean my nose with the nasal wash thing, even with wearing a mask.

I have seen some videos that EGO does have plastic catch but maybe that's in US only.

            • @cook99: with a plastic catcher, I use a hose to clean out any grass that's stuck to the inside. How do you clean your catcher?

      • Yes. Check out total tools site. I have posted link above right at the top.

I have all of Ego tools bought it 5 years ago though Ozbargain deals.
    Pros : 1. strong power 2. quiet 3. well built 4. convenience
Cons : 1. Defective 2.5Ah batteries, I have 3 of 2.5ah batteries and only lasted 3 years all of them not working just after passed warranty period. Another 4.0 ah battery is still working strong after 5years.
    2. Expensive new battery price.

  • +3

EGO is the best cordless garden tool range on the market
    18v & 36v systems simply aren’t powerful enough
I have the self propelled lawn mower, chainsaw, brush cutter/line trimmer, hedge trimmer, blower
Blower is brilliant for clearing gutters

    • do you just blow the leaves onto the road and let the council deal with it?

      • +1

        Nature deals with it

    • Thanks for the confidence. I was tossing up between makita and ego.

      • Just discovered EGO have released a 10Ah battery (which is over half a kWh)
They are about to release a ride on lawn mower that will use their existing battery range

        • I just bought a 7.5Ah battery today and that,thing is heavy as.🤣

  • The blower included is older model I have the newer model with dial on it for trigger less operation and there is a newer one in U.S that has no turbo button but is included in the trigger variable speed.

  • I have the old mower and Chainsaw (from Masters), the Chainsaw is a beast.

  • +1

New select cut mower has arrived. Best to get this with free battery promo from next month. Link is above in the post.

    • MVP !
Definitely going to wait a month for the bonus battery, is that already announced for sure or speculation based in last year?

      • +1

Do a quick google search for ego battery promotion and see for yourself. 😎

    • Is the new model much better compared to this? I've seen videos of the select cut just curious what everyone else thinks.

  • Deal is still available at Total tools and you can claim free battery redemption.

  • Tradetools also price matches but I think it is same price there too.
