Washing Machine Recommendation - Bosch vs Hisense vs Other?

Hi fellow OzBargainers,

Looking for a recommendation for a new washing machine, as my current Samsung washing machine drum bearings have failed. Not keen to get another Samsung.
I also have some JB Hi-Fi vouchers to use, so keen to shop there.

I've shortlisted the following:

Hisense HWFL1014V 10kg Front Load Washing Machine - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hisense-hwfl1014v-10kg-fr…
$799 - 3 Year Warranty

Hisense HWFE1014VA 10kg Front Load Washing Machine (White) - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hisense-hwfe1014va-10kg-f…
$999 - 3 Year Warranty

Bosch WAW28460AU 8kg ActiveWater Front Load Washing Machine - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/bosch-waw28460au-8kg-acti…
$1249 - 2 Year Warranty

The Bosch seems to have hundreds of positive reviews, where as the Hisense machines have little or none (might be fairly new models). What reviews there are seem positive on both.
The Bosch has a 2 year warranty and the Hisense have 3 years.
The Bosch is a 8kg and the Hisense are both 10kg (not important to me) - have the room for both.
The Hisense seems to have more features (like touch screen and auto dosing on the more expensive model).

Any advice on which machine would be the better choice?

Which company is better from a support perspective?

Should I be looking at any other machines?

Cheers!

  • I recently went through this exercise, and ended up getting a Fisher & Paykel 12kg. The main thing I was looking at was the various cycles that they can do and what the "weight" the cycle is capable of as well as how long it takes. Most washing machines can only do the maximum rated weight capacity on their longest cycle (cotton cycle). When you do the 15 / 30 / 60 minute cycle, usually you can only do a lot less weight. F&P can do the same 12kg on their "Everyday" cycle which takes around an hour (compared to the Cotton cycle - 2hrs+). I also like the simple options (extra rinse cycle, pre-wash) being quickly selectable without going through a deep menu hierarchy, because those are the things that I vary all the time depending on the type of load I'm doing.

    • Fisher & Paykel

FYI they are owned by China these days…… Owned by Haier, so………… buy the Haier and save yourself some money ;)

  • LG top load and dont skimp on the water.

    • Disregarding the fact it uses much more water, top loaders don't wash as well, are not as gentle on clothes and also don't spin as fast so don't come out as dry.

Doesn't make sense to buy a new one today.

  • Bosch. Solid.

I got a Bosch WAY32891AU a couple of months ago. Happy with it. I-dos is good (fill up dispenser and it puts the right amount of detergent in). Energy usage very low. 1600RPM spin = short time in dryer required.
Doesn’t look like it’s at JB, but I think WAW28620AU is pretty similar.

My view is all the auto features are extra things that can break.
We have a Bosch that has been reliable.
Before you spend $800, have you considered replacing the Samsung bearings? Most washer maintenance is very straight forward, just replacing parts and usually all that is required is a screwdriver and YouTube.
    Ebay has parts.

  • We have a bosch, similar but 9kg with idos. Its been really good and I wash a lot with 3 messy kids.
At the time of looking (about 2 years ago) you could get the model you have listed for a bit cheaper than that, maybe about $1000.
Im not sure if things have gone up since corona but my suggestion would be buy the bosch but look around for a better price.

    Hi,
You should definitely be looking at something else – Ariston at least or Miele.
Right now, Miele is offering 10 years warranty, which is an investment by itself. It is a German company.
Some homework is needed to be done at your part of course.
It is well known fact that Italians have developed the today’s concept of machine washing to the highest possible level. So, everything Italian related to washing is OK. The best balance of quality and affordability.
The closest you can get to the “Italian Brand”, “Italian Designed”, “Italian Made” the better. It depends only on what is it that you are ready to invest in this purchase away from Miele.
In Australia as for this time now the only Italian brand that can give you anything Italian at all is Ariston. Starting from the 9kg models up.
Hisense? Do not even think about it.
Bosh? It is not what it was. In sharp decline for the last 20 years.
The best possible washing machine? Miele always!
The only compromise from Miele? Ariston and nothing else.

    • I saw the Miele warranty offer.

I'd look at Bosch normally but with a 10 year warranty, I'd pay extra for the Miele.

  • Checkout BEKO competetive price as good as Bosch and a top european brand many options and varities available.

I bought one and cant be any happier super quiet as well.

  • Boach made in Germany version. I paid extra but i sleep better at night.

  • I have LG seperate dryer and seperate washer.
Both are going great and can control from my phone.

I would consider Bosch if I hadn't bought the LG's

  • Funnily enough, my Samsung washer also bit the dust about 3 weeks ago and replaced with the Indian made version of the Bosch you're looking at, WAT24261AU. It's just two of us so saving $400 upfront seems worth it over the German built one.

The Samsung really went, had a look inside, couple of mangled shock absorbers along with the cracked back plate. From a quick look around parts would be $400+

Went with Appliances Online since they're still delivering during lockdown in Melbourne and still hauled away the old one for me. JB don't remove the old. Was handy since I have a washer and dryer stacked.

  • It seems Hisense is mainly now Made in Slovenia in the Gorenje factory who were also the owners of Asko.
