Doubt WD drives are shuckable
Not sure why the downvotes, but most WD 2.5 size portable drives are not shuckable. Meanwhile their bigger 3.5 size ones are the most shucked devices on Ozbargain.
The only external drive I ever needed to shuck was a Seagate. USB board died. All my WD's are going strong.
jayboi gave up telling people to fix up their titles
Sorry don't post much on here as I don't come across a lot that isn't already posted
thanks for the fix
Which is better this one or Seagate 4th for $105?
thats 2 months wait, this one can be within a week
I personally would go for the Seagate, as WD portable drives often/always have a proprietary port on the internal drive.
If the drive enclosure fails, I like to have a chance to recover the data.
As the owner of two 4th wd passports I wholly agree
I'll prefer the seagate, while I won't be shucking it right now. 4TB is big enough of a drive to be used in a PC or whatever later on.
I always had issues with WD enclosure
What they have in the description photo and what they have in the stock images, are 2 different disks. WDBA3A0040BBK-WESN is the WD black P10 drive, not the WDBM1M0040BBK-WESN
Which is better?
This can run on PC right? Any chance its limited to the PS4?
more likely limited to USB not PS4…
You never know what kinda proprietary bs pops around the corner
According to the reviews on Amazon, this seems to only designed for the PS4
https://www.amazon.com.au/WD-Gaming-Drive-Playstation-WDBM1M…
You'd probably be able to format it to work with windows 10
Answers here say otherwise

This also indicates it may be used for other devices:TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Compatible with Sony PlayStation™ 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro consoles with firmware 4.50 or later. Requires reformatting via the console for use as game storage. May require reformatting for other devices. Note: Compatibility may vary depending on user’s hardware configuration and operating system.
Yes, just a normal hdd that's been marketed specifically for PS4, so that when people who are not tech savvy can just simply buy a hdd for their PS4.

"Western Digital 4TB Gaming Drive Works with PS4 - Black"
I have a white PS 4, Will it work?
But seriously though, does this require a external psu to operate?normally 1 USB cable will work, even half the USB like the USB micro still works fine.
it is a portable drive so it will get power fro USB connection.
will confirm when I get mine today or tomorrow when pick it up
I think it is out of stock already.
Can we use it as normal hard drive on Windows 10?
Thank youyeah wondering why its specifically called a "gaming drive"
5400 RPM
I guess the gaming qualification is having ps4 written on the box.The drive probably has Shingles (SMR)
The drive is pre-formatted to work with the PS4 OS.
OOS
Damn, gone already!
Posted less than an hour ago and already Ozbargained. Guess they didn't have much in stock.
Can I use this for my laptop back up?
Yes but read the comments above by OzyBe. There will be a risk factor involved in terms of data recovery and you might want to consider an alternative like Seagate.
Wow this is a good deal.
I've just got my toshiba 4tb last month around $144 from ow.I picked mine up this afternoon plugged it in Win10 machine which saw it straight away. Nothing on the drive, so just reformatted it to default NTFS and good to go on win10 machine.
does your drive have a hum / vibration (idle)?
I have a portable 2TB WD from 2017 which is quieter on idle than this drive.
Is this shuckable and would that be worth it? Was going to pickup a 2tb internal for around $80, this seems way better..
