Nah, there was a pretty good deal back then, where MS gave you 50% back on RRP. I know because I got a couple then too.
Supply and demand. Last year only a hand full of people needed these… not almost everyone does.
I had one of these, pretty ordinary quality, in particular the auto focusing
I would get one… but are terrible to use with a Mac.

I have one of these and its a complete POS
focus and light adjustment wavers constantly and their windows 10 drivers for "managing" focus/exposure are non-existent.
These are windows 8 cameras that are ported to windows 10…..
