  • boo canon….no r5 deal….

    but good post :)

    • R5 and R6 are actually very nice units!

might need to wait a while for a price drop…can't justify the current $6500.00 price atm…

but can't wait to start shooting with it!

Disappointed I missed the RP deals for ~$1200 last December, should have picked one up! Still using old 5D3 bodies, should probably make the move to mirrorless soon.

    • I pulled the trigger on Sony A7 iii from Nikon D610.

I have way too much invested in Canon to really consider changing unfortunately. I guess I could do it but I really don't want to sells all my L glass, triggers, flashes, accessories and everything when I can just buy a new body or 2.

    • I reckon that 5d3 is still superior to RP, unless you are aiming for the R

I've got a 6D 24-70 II, 70-200 II. I only shoot as a hobby nowadays. What are your thoughts on this in terms of value in the next 5 years? Should I sell them now? And get a prosumer instead?

Keep your lenses, but the EF-RF adapter and get the R. I run a bunch of EF lenses on my R with no issues

RF Mount is a highly capable mount. The extra pins can do a lot, the control ring is just a start. Canon will slowly reveal its full potential instead of giving it straight away so as to squeeze out every penny they can from enthusiasts.

i sold my D750 recently to move back to canon with an EOS R. If i was late i wouldnt get the resale value for my D750 if mirroless became common.

My best advice is to get a mirrorless canon that fulfill your needs on a deal. Get a Mount Ring adapter for 340 and now you can use the 24 70 and 70 200 with your mirrorless.

I would also buy an extra battery and a battery grip from grey market

    • A few months back, before the R5 and R6, I would have advised you to either switch to Sony and adapt the lenses or just get rid of them. Now with the new R-series and the great adapters for EF lenses, I would just start saving for an R5 or R6 and an adapter if I were you!

  • Ouch, literally bought R + 24-105 f4L for $3800. This would have been a better deal🤣 or maybe not

It was actually $3793 - free NiSi filter - $250 cashback = $3400. So perhaps same deal, as its hard to find the 24-104 for below $1400

Using the Eos R right now on a real estate shoot. Paired with the 17mm ts-e, it’s replaces my 1DXii for RE shoots. Great unit and with the bonus 35, definitely worth buying for anyone looking for a well priced full frame with professional capabilities.

For reference, the cheapest I've seen this lens was $350 with this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/519964

It's a good general purpose focal length. IS + Macro are a great bonus.

  • I traded in my Canon 5D Mark 3 for the Canon R, and I've been using the EF-RF converter for the 24-70mm F2.8. I'm finding the focus finding a bit slower on the R, and the frames per second is lower too. While it is an amazing camera especially for its size and weight, I can't help but feel I got better shots and a more satisfying experience with the 5D series.

    • From what I've understood, this indeed is the case with the R and RP bodies. But apparently things have improved a great deal with the R5 and R6, to the level where the autofocus is on par or even better compared to using the lenses on native EF bodies.

  • A reminder that R doesn't have in-body Image Stabilisation

  • I switched to stand by mode and just enjoying my Canon 6D Mk2.
I'll be waiting till R5 / R6 will get closer to Sony full frame bodies price-wise and then I will get one.
