Akai 40" FHD Smart LED TV $198 + $17.99 Del/Free C&C @ Harvey Norman

100

198 reasons for staying at home.

Nice price for a FHD 40 incher with "Smart", albeit the most basic of all. Thinking of getting one for my bedroom. Plenty of stock around where I am in SE Melbourne.

There was a time when AkAI was one of the best electronics provider (80's) and its good to see they are still around, but in this manner and stance in the current market, it feels bad !! I still have 2 amplifiers that they used to make, and my dad got it from Japan in 84, i think and it still gives other amplifiers a run for its money.. this one still has all original parts and its freakkkingly crystal clear and loud !!
SOrry.. bit off topic here but saw AKAI after such a long time.. nostalgia flowed in.

    • Agree. I'm a caveman and still own an Akai DVD Player from 2003 and it's still working like a beast. No region locks and below $100 at the time was a steal.

    • I think now AKAI is different and brand is owned by someother company after their defunct. My dad also got an audio deck with radio+cassette+amplifier back then it was really good.

You're right there, Akai of the 80s/90s and Akai now are completely different. These days it's just the brandname put on cheap Chinese crap. Just like how MG cars now are just Chinese cars, have no resemblance to the MG brand of before.

  • Does anyone know of a 4k TV in 40" size? I'm kind of stuck with 40" in a specific location, but I want the resolution upgrade.

    • Are you going to be really close to it? Hard to see 4k detail on a 40 incher in living room setting. I guess you'd still get HDR benefits on some sets

I think 43-inch is going to be your best bet, though if it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit.

Probably better to be shopping based on the dimension of the TV rather than the screen size, what size is the aperture you're trying to squeeze it into?

Ignore the haters, the 43-inch 4K Samsung I got for our bedroom was a nice upgrade on the 40-inch HD it replaced.

      • Yeah, I will have to get the exact maximum dimensions that will fit in my cabinet, and shop based on overall dimensions. I suspect that a slim-bezel 43" will fit, although it will be very tight.

Unfortunately, very few manufacturers and retailers list the overall dimensions excluding the stand.

      • 40 inch HD, or FHD?
40 inch TV's in 4k resolution is much higher DPI than most 4k TV's, and i can't imagine a big market for it.

        • Apologies, old 40 inch was Full HD 1080p.

    Price is $348

  • Yes price 348

  • Yes price $348 when adding to cart.

  • Yes price is three four eight dollars

  • $348 ends on 16/9/20 that doesn’t make any sense. It’s as if they’re trying to say that $348 is the sale price when $198 was the sale price.
