EDIT 2: Looks like either the $100 minimum spend showing on the website—in both the T&Cs and the promo landing page—was an error or First Choice Liquor have decided to change the offer to match the erroneous emails. Either way, the website has now been updated and it's definitely a non-targeted $50 minimum spend offer.

EDIT 1: Current advice from First Choice Liquor Customer Service is that if you have received a $50 minimum spend email, they will honour it (duh). The recommendation is to check in five weeks time, confirm that the points have been credited, and raise an issue if they have not. They are still waiting to hear from Head Office as to if it's a website error (most likely) or an email error. If it's an email error, then the $50 minimum spend offer will most likely effectively be treated as a targeted offer. I expect we will (only) find out if it was a website error if and when they amend the miminum spend there.

T&Cs 12

This regular rare bonus flybuys deal is back again.

(Note: It seems that someone, again, forgot to correctly update the website with the Terms & Conditions. The website states $100 minimum spend whilst the email notification that I just received says it's $50. I'd trust the email.) Edit: website fixed.

Stacks with cashback.

Now we just need a good cashback to combine with it!

  • Looks like someone working at First Choice Liquor needs to be sacked!

Once again the online Terms & Conditions are inaccurate. Just received an email notification, and the minimum spend is $50, not $100 as originally posted.

This makes it a much better deal.

(Note: It's probably a good idea to check in five weeks time to make sure you do actually receive the bonus points if you've only spent between $50 and $100.)

Maybe the $50 is Targeted (I also got the e-mail). Does that mean if you spend $100, you get 4000 points? :/

    • 4000 points? 🤔 Hadn't thought about that. It's possible that the $50 min spend is targeted, but not likely.

Sigh. Looks like I'll have to contact Customer Service (once again) for confirmation.

  • Email I got says collect 2000 points on $50 spend but when I go to the website I got a collect 2000 points on $100 spend pop up.

    Confusing.

Just got off the phone with First Choice Liquor Customer Service.

Apparently there's a bit of chat going on about this. The bloke has contacted his boss and will ring back when he receives a reply. (He estimates within half an hour.)

    • I haven't seen a pop up yet. (I used the standard links for the Terms & Conditions and for the Bonus 2000 flybuys Points landing page.)

Does the pop up link to the landing page and/or the Terms & Conditions page?

  • +1

Until otherwise confirmed, it would be safer to treat the $50 minimum spend offer as targeted; if you haven't received an email, then you may not receive the bonus points.

(And no, kerfuffle, I highly doubt that they would stack if indeed there are two different offers 😉)

  • I got the $50 offer, but cashrewards has 2000 points for $100 as standard one https://www.cashrewards.com.au/first-choice-liquor

    • +2

Not sure if Cashrewards scrapes the flybuys offers from the website, or actually gets notified of them by First Choice Liquor. (I might have to ask TA.)

Either way, the First Choice Liquor offer landing page—linked to from the pop up—has now changed to show $50. I presume the pop up will also now show $50.

Unfortunately, the Terms & Conditions page linked to from the offer landing page still shows $100, but it's quite obvious now that that's wrong and just hasn't been fixed yet. Edit: Just got fixed.

      • it still says $100 : Spend $100 and enter your flybuys number at the checkout

        • If you're talking about the First Choice Liquor offer landing and Terms & Conditions pages, then you're viewing cached versions of the pages, as they've definitely changed.

If you're talking about the Cashrewards page, I'm just about to shoot off a PM to TA to get it updated.

      OP it is hard to find but here is the $50 promo;
      https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/specials/bonus-2000

      Actually, it's not 😉

If you check out my deal as originally posted on 31/08/2020 - 03:58, you'll see that that is the link I used then (and for all subsequent revisions) for the deal URL. You can click on "Go to Deal" or the deal image to confirm it.

The issue was that that link—and the online Terms & Conditions—both stated $100 as the minimum spend. This has now been rectified. I've updated the deal to clarify this (and show the corrected online Terms & Conditions).

The email does specify 'online only' so I would follow that.
      https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/specials/promo-terms-an…

I don't understand this statement. That link is the, now-corrected, online Terms & Conditions link. The email contains a slightly different version (shall we play "spot the differences"? Hint: it's double digits) of the Terms & Conditions as text only. It doesn't contain a link to them. Both the email and online Terms & Conditions state "online only". Not sure how you come to the conclusion: "I would follow that".

      • WOW get anal over nothing - the first link does not clearly stipulate online only and it was not until you click on the Terms and Conditions that this is clearly noted not sure why such a turd sandwich response! Shoot the messenger much!!!

        • The email does specify 'online only' so I would follow that.

          OK. Now I understand.

You meant "that" as in "follow the email". Whereas I was reading it as "follow the email Terms & Conditions rather than the online ones". On second reading, my interpretation is the least likely of the two. My apologies for that.

You should try to look at your post the way I saw it, in order to understand my reply.

I interpreted it as two independent comments.

          1) That you were pointing out that you'd found the promo landing page and that it was hard to find. (Which was confusing as it's not.)

          2) That you were suggesting that the email T&Cs should be followed instead of the online ones because the email ones specified "online only", and—I mistakenly assumed—that you were implying that the online ones didn't. (Which was confusing as both your link and quote were for the online T&Cs, not the email ones.)

Also, given that the deal title actually specifies "Online Spend", it's not too unreasonable that I missed your intent 😉

          WOW get anal

Personally, I find that term slightly offensive when used when I'm not being anal. I have no problems being called out when I am being anal, though 😉 (Or is "OCD" more PC nowadays… Sigh.)

          over nothing

Not "over nothing" from my interpretation. I was honestly confused why you thought the promo landing page was hard to find given that it was the actual deal link that I posted. Plus, I seriously couldn't understand what "online only" had to do with choosing which T&Cs to trust. (Recall that the whole drama with the deal was that there were two conflicting minimum spends.)

Granted, from the point of view of the singular intent of your comment—"I would trust the T&Cs over the landing page: it's an online only deal"—sure, my comment is a big hullabaloo over nothing 😉

the first link does not clearly stipulate online only and it was not until you click on the Terms and Conditions that this is clearly noted

Yes, totally. Apologies once again for my misinterpretation.

not sure why such a turd sandwich response!

Okaaay… Now that's really rude, offensive and totally uncalled for. Even assuming I was being completely anal over nothing, there was nothing in my tone to suggest that I was being anything other than sincere and lighthearted. I start with a wink and then suggested a fun "spot the differences" game in jest. Please point out where I came across any differently. (In case you're wondering, I am being sincere; sometimes what you write clearly can still be misinterpreted 😉 ) Actually, on re-reading my reply I can think of one improvement. I could have opened with the less curt "Thanks. Actually, it's not hard to find 😉" as, clearly, you were being helpful.

          Shoot the messenger much!!!

Seriously? Now if I'd called your comment a "turd sandwich comment" (or something similar) then sure, you were trying to be helpful only to be bitten on the arse, so such a comment would be warranted. Do you really think my reply involved "shooting" of any kind (notwithstanding my explanation of it)?

Now you can say I'm being anal 😛

  • fairly late in the game to this post but i dont see $100 min spend anywhere, looks like they fixed it back to $50 or maybe i'm missing something

    • Nope, you haven't missed anything. Everywhere online was showing $100 whilst the email stated $50. Everywhere online has now been updated to $50.

Just out of curiosity (and I'm been sincere here) is not my "EDIT 2" in the deal clear on this point?

      • +1

Oh… nah I just can’t read real good lol

        • Ah! Good to know it's just you needing better glasses, and not my literary skills 😉
