  What do you mean by cheap?
  Anything over $100 - really need more info on what you want to do and want to spend

  Less than $100 - they're available anywhere (I bought a Fuji from BigW for $100 for my girlfriend and I'm amazed at the quality of pictures it takes on Auto across all sorts of conditions)

  Less that $70 - probably pretty difficult to find something that could be recommended

  Don't mind spending between say $250-$400. I know I've just missed the harvey norman deal - couldn't find a second buyer :(
  Any other good deals plz let me know.

  I was tending towards a canon also, probably a compact one, not an slr one but don't know where to start.

    I got a G12 from the Harvey Norman deal. If you are willing to spend up to $400 im sure there will be a few G12's on Gumtree in Melbourne that may be willing to accept that. If you read the reviews the G12 is one of the best compacts you can get.

      I currently have a G11 and it takes pretty good pictures, even in low light conditions. Be warned though it is a bit clunkier and heavier than most compacts (but it does offer more features as a high end compact including full manual control), but not as clunky as SLRs.
