Buyer beware, I want this set, but not until they sort out the colour mismatch issue with the green pieces, it ruins the look of the car IMHO. Many pictures around with a quick Google.

Thanks - I thought the mismatch issues were only on the fake sets. Didnt realise it was the official set also

    • Thanks for the info there might be a opportunity with the mismatched set if the reissued one is distinguishable :)
Most likely I don't think they will though : (

Fake news. Probably just a poor camera on a dodgy Android phone. Take a pic with an Apple phone and it probably cures cancer.

Before y’all get uppity, this is not a serious post, I know Maveot IRL

    • The Fiat has this issue too

      • Yeah I wasn't aware but after checking you are correct.

Guess Lego have decided easier to cut corners to save $$$ these days, it's a shame as to me it was about paying for the quality, guess that is no longer the case!

    • yeap can confirm. bought the set when it was released and the different shades of green really bugs me!

      @Maveot

but not until they sort out the colour mismatch issue with the green pieces,

A couple of points to give more context to these claims:

      1. Right now, numerous Lego plants around the world are in states of reduced productivity or complete shutdown, such as the plant in Mexico. This naturally has reduced their ability to keep up with demand as well as introduced complications into the logistical sorting process internationally (larger, more complicated sets like the Sian will have pieces sourced from numerous plants worldwide which are aggregated at a final packing facility). Colour inconsistencies can easily result from different pieces of the same colour being sourced from different plants worldwide, whereas normally they may be produced at a single site.

      2. Colour consistency issues have been a problem with the brighter/lighter pigments Lego uses for a long time and there are well-known cases of this going all the way back to the 1990s. It's also something that's rather subjective, much like colour accuracy in monitors/printed paper, and there's a whole white paper on the topic of perceived versus actual colour differences in plastics being affected by ambient lighting. It's not just a case of Lego "cutting corners", there are technical limitations to how well certain pigments can be plasticised and how consistent the results are, and how they will vary with age, lighting and other factors.

      3. We're talking about 4 pieces in total (granted, they are larger pieces) of the Sian that look to be a different shade of green than the rest of the exterior body panels; according to most accounts.

      • There’s no way it’s 4 pieces looking at the imgur gallery. There’s variations all over it.

I’ve got the Chiron and it’s got all the light blue and I haven’t noticed any variation.

COVID is affecting everyone, everywhere and it’s every businesses choice what they ultimately do. They chose to produce sets with parts as described and this is a consequence of that choice.

Yes it’s understandable when you understand all these factors, but people who are dropping half a grand have the right to say “I don’t want to purchase this product in its current state” if they don’t like what they are seeing.

        • There’s no way it’s 4 pieces looking at the imgur gallery. There’s variations all over it.

It's most noticeable on 4 of the larger, exterior panel pieces, though from checking review photos on Lego.com it seems to vary wildly with each example.

They chose to produce sets with parts as described and this is a consequence of that choice.

It may not have been conscious choice but rather an unintended consequence of production and quality control being thrown into disarray due to COVID-related lockdowns.

Yeah I never said it wasn't a legitimate complaint, especially for a flagship set and especially when previous flagship sets like the Chiron or the 911 GT3 RS didn't have these problems, but there's more to the issue than we likely know and it'll probably be sorted out it in due time.

      • Upvote is not enough for this immensely sane comment

    • Eh, YOLO, bought it. If it's noticeable I'll just submit a request for Lego to replace the pieces.
I've got the Fiat and can't see any colour matching issues on it.

      • +1

They aren't going to replace the pieces lol, read the feed back on the Lego store.

    • And the gaps! OMG I'm boycotting it till they fix all those gaps. I'm not buying a gappy toy.

      • +6

….my family can eat the leggos

        • +1

          … and Domino's (or dominos).

    • Are you joking the LEGO wins hands down !

  • Is this Lego set and Zavvi legit (real and trustworthy)? Apparently sold out everywhere..

    • I’ve bought blurays off them many years ago. They should still be legit I assume

    • +1

Zavvi are owned/run by The Hut Group who also own/run IWOOT. So you should expect similar performance. From my IWOOT experience, it takes him a few days longer to dispatch than they say, shipping from the UK is not that fast right now. And the Lego box may come slightly dented. I personally would order this from Zavvi if I wanted a Lamborghini to build, not to collect. (But I already have one.)

  • Seems a UK based company which may be an issue if you have a problem or want to return.

  • Store in title.

That's a very expensive KO kit for that size, and its not even the equivalent design. That kit in the link is a different, smaller design with different parts

  • 8 upvotes and it's gone already. What a promotion lol.

  • Are you related to a user - JabbaTheHut on forums?

  • anyone know if there is any deal for LEGO Technic: Porsche 911 RSR Sports Car Set?

  • Guess I might hold off for awhile. I was so close pulling the trigger

  • Did not realise this would be shipped from UK. It already missed the expected delivery date. Tracking showing that it left on the 2nd sept and it’s still in transit with not yet arrived in AU.
