Shipping from Banggood's AU warehouse is this budget Xiaomi TV soundbar. It has wireless connectivity via Bluetooth 4.2 and wired connectivity via aux in, line in, SPDIF and optical. It has physical buttons ontop for switching between modes and volume control.

Given it's a budget soundbar there is no HDMI/ARC, but if you connect the aux (3.5mm) to the TV you should be able to control volume with your remote. Or if you have an Android TV box you can pair the soundbar to that and use the remote for volume control.

Paid $119 for a Yamaha yas 108b (has HDMI arc), not entirely sure if it was regularly that price, but I'd imagine for a sound bar, you'd want at least HDMI arc now.

Edit: regularly hovered around $140, it seems the pandemic has made them sit around the $200.

    • whered u find it for $119?

      • Previous sale on good guys or Bing Lee eBay , before covid hit. After covid, you'd be looking at closed to $200 on sale

    • Had plans to get one (or the 109b) for myself for Fathers day, but pandemic prices have (profanity) that up for me.

  • I wish it supported ChromeCast.

Can I hang this off the bottom of a wall swivel mounted TV?

  • can this pair with a bluetooth headphones for some nighttime movies?

Looks pretty good. Eight drivers. It looks perfect for use under my monitor because its main drawback, not having a remote, isn't an issue when you're sitting within arms reach.

This review suggests that it smashes the JBL Bar Studio soundbar for sound quality. The JBL costs twice the price so for those on a budget it's a great option.

    • i thought it might go ok with my xiaomi 34 pc setup. never heard of anyone using a soundbar for this sort of thing but should be ok?

    • Looks like 4 drivers and 4 passive radiators

  • 28w? =/
Pretty sure my mid range samsung TV has 40w built in speakers

      Midrange isn't budget.

The amount of watts only plays a part in sound quality. Since the inception of class d amplifiers it actually plays a much smaller role than with class a amps. I used to have a $10000 hifi set up once upon a time. Got it for far less than that of course! I bought one of the first plastic class d amps for $50 and it was only 10 watts. It was just as good as my 100 watt $2000 class a amp to my ears. Along with realising that most audiophile equipment is snake oil, it's allowed me to be happier with a much cheaper set up now.

  • Slightly upgraded model https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/566036
    Only Black version though.

    • You sure it's an upgrade? Looks like this one might be better, price looks to be around $130 while the one you linked goes fro around $90

      • 28W vs 30W
        Bluetooth 4 vs Bluetooth 5

The price difference appears to be just the fact that Banggood is usually more expensive than AliExpress, but that's not always the case.

        • I checked across many sites, theyre all listing for more.

Also this one has a set of 8 speakers. The one you’ve linked has 2.

I think the quality is better on this one, but yours may be louder hence the Watt?

It is confusing however because technically it was released by xiaomi later, SKUs are MDZ-27, yours is MDZ-34.

Judging by all the well received reviews of this one MDZ-27 it seems like it is better than the newer one MDZ-34

  • Thanks OP my order came down to $92.85 on my ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum
