$11 Large 11" or $14 Extra Large 13" Classic Pizzas (8 Choices) @ Crust Pizza (Selected Stores)

731

Crust have lowered prices, changed the wording of sizes and introduced new flavours in the classic range + new sides; in an attempt to make it more competitive/affordable. Although the email does say a limited time only, so prices may revert in the future, although the options should stay the same.

Previously large pizzas were 13" and medium pizzas were 11", despite large at other pizza chains being as small as 10". Making comparisons slightly misleading.

You also have 8 varieties to choose from in this Classic Pizza range, instead of just 3.

the prices are not for all stores. at least not for my local one

    • Ah damn, I did try a few stores in SA and some interstate, when I tested VIC it was the Fitzroy store. They all showed as $11.

      • +3

The 2 near me in Sydney are still their regular high prices

  • And looks like in the description you have the prices mixed up between l and xl

    • Thanks, fixed up.

  • +1

These prices not showing up on their website yet. OP, you need to fix the price mixups in the post

  • +28

    11in @ $11 = 11.6c/sq in
    13in @ $14 = 10.5c/sq in

    • +5

      smort

    • Yeah but that includes the crust area. Calculate with the topping area please.

      • +9

        Area is pi * r^2

        11" pizza: 3.142*5.5^2 ~ 95 sq inches

        13" pizza: 3.142*6.5^2 ~ 133 sq inches

So the 13" pizza is around 40% larger.

If you know the diameter of the pizza without toppings, knock yourself out with the formula above.

        • +3

…. and 13" is only 27.2727272727% more expensive.

        • 11" and 13" are with toppings.

Which base changes how thick the outer crust is. At ~1cm width crust for thin n crispy, its 11% cheaper per topping area to get the larger 14" pizza. If the crust is 1.5cm, this is 12% and 13.5% if its 2cm crust which is a deep pan crust. But then you get into a volume debate for the deep pan…

So for all those kids in school who always say, 'when am I going to need to know maths in real life'?

We now have an answer. Pizza Pi.

@B3: When the moon hits your eye

        • Do you have this in metric?

  • The limited range classic pizzas have been these prices for months in VIC … one thing that doesn't suck about this state right now.

  • Large 13" Pizzas are now known as Extra Large 13" Pizzas

How can they be Extra Large if they are the same size ?

    • The post is explaining that. Large in other chains are usually 10”, but crust used to call their 11” medium. So they are now calling it large, and their 13” is extra large. That will make it easier for comparison.

  • +7

They changed the sizing many months ago, they just forgot to announce it.
I was disappointed when I ordered a large pizza and pasta to find it was now a medium pizza. When I contacted them the response was along the lines of I received the correct pizza and they changed the sizes but the app hadn’t been updated to reflect the new terminology and people need to look at the measurements.

    • +1

Wow that is horrible. And why not just make it large and family? Instead of introducing medium which was large. As in, why confuse everyone?

      • I suspect too many people were trying to compare a Crust large (13”) to a Dominos large (11”?) and baulking at the price difference without realizing there is a size difference and in theory a quality difference, as a result Crust decided to change their nomenclature.

It wasn’t that horrible the girl I spoke to was nice enough, it was just disappointing because I only eat pizza a couple times a year.

        • Yeah completely agree (regarding Crust changing the product names), actually it was even worse as Domino's Large Pizza is 10". So Crust's Medium was bigger than Domino's Large.

        • just curious how many " is a costco pizza

    • +5

      Those guys are scammy pricks

  • Hm.. TIL that Crust don't even deliver to my area.

  • It’s weird how different the menus in the Rosanna store is vs the reservoir store. Only the reservoir store shows the promo pricing.

  • So crust isn't only for annoying (profanity) now?

    Shame

  • -5

I get their pizzas for free when I want.

    • -1

      That's sad.

Who is punishing you like that?

      • My friend who owns one of the stores. To be honest their pizzas are pretty good in comparison to Dominos & Pizza hut.

        • +6

in comparison to Dominos & Pizza hut.

You're kind of setting a pretty low benchmark here….

  • +3

The pizzas were/are good but we stopped getting them when a) the VIP scheme stopped offering free delivery; and b) they removed the 'aussie' from the menu (the kids liked the aussie with no egg). Could order it as a special of course, but costed even more. We found another local pizza place that made bigger 'family' size pizzas, including 'aussie's, and as a bonus the kids prefer them.

    • +4

I'm the same. I used to order every week or two. Their pizzas are pricey, but with free delivery I could justify it. Now you pay for delivery and they put their prices up. Probably only get it once every few months which is a shame because they make good pizzas for a franchise.

      • ive never tried crusts before are they good?

i really like pizza hut but dont get often because i hate when they skimp on toppings

  • +2

The pizzas at the Annandale store where great… sadly at my current local store they aren’t

'Formally known' instead of 'Formerly known' .. was wondering why that was bugging me so much heh.

Have always enjoyed Crust but they were pretty expensive in the past, might give them another try.

  • Shame their Menulog prices (at least for my local) haven't decreased. $6 (or $4.90 with an often running 10% off) for an 11" Crust pizza would have been nice but they are charging $15 for 11" and $17 for 13".

  • +10

My local is still $23 for a large.

    Fine, we both starve then.

  • +1

Their prices/sizes are also updated on Menulog, if you prefer to order there, but unfortunately the $5 voucher doesn't work there however.

Edit: I also found some Bundle offers here at my local store, eg 3 Large 11" Classic Pizzas $27.95, they aren't on Menulog however.

  • +1

Maybe I'll give them a go with a free pizza deal. Size reductions are dodgy.

  • Annandale and Alexandria NSW still showing the old sizes/prices

  • +1

Have they removed the free delivery for VIPP or whatever they called it? That was the only reason we ordered occasionally as they are very overpriced.

  • Still super expensive at Castle Hill.

  • +1

Prices and sizes are the same still at my local store (medium/large)

Having said that, what is a classic pizza?

There is no mention of classic on the menu

    • Looks like that menu isn't updated. They are listed as 'Traditional' on that menu, however there are now 8 varieties, not just the 3 listed there.

  • I used to get this pizza which has fresh chilli slices in it, no idea what it's called. I think it had some kind of sweet sauce on it.

Does anyone know what pizza that was because it's not on the menu.

    • Vietnamese chilli chicken?

      • Yeah that's the closest thing, but the one we had didn't have that slaw. They probably changed the menu.

Work would order like 20 pizzas, all the different toppings, there was maybe one or two I liked, the rest were just weird or just plain crap. Others would like them, maybe I'm weird…

Ahhh, who cares anyway. If I'm getting pizza I'll get the wood fired Italian one down the road from us.

        • Same, there was no slaw when I bought too. Must be only on pics

  • +3

They are good pizzas, but I could never justify paying $48 for 2 pizzas, when I could get 3 extra large pizzas from dominos for $29

  • Yeah crust is good - but not twice as good as Dominos. $9 vs $20+… nah

Sorry! It looks like we don't deliver to "your address".
    Just lost yourselves a Customer.

  • Wagyu steak with added king prawns $30 pizza. 8 free stacked addons took it from boring to delicious.
Ordered monthly. 2yrs ago, arrived as the store was closing for the night. Hand-written inside the box, "sorry we're out of extras" next to a salt n pepper tub taped to the lid. Liberties!
HQ refused any complaint, the store refused a credit.
Where are they going from there? Spitting in the next one? I wasn't about to find out. Dominos 4 lyf ✌

    • Dominos is hot garbage tho

      • Both stores serve grossly unhealthy product. My point being, one is 3 times the price, the other gives you what you order.

    • Hm tell me more about the free stacked add ons.

  • Or get 3 large classics for 27.95 with the code 65713, works with my local one (Lyndhurst Vic)

  • No Deal really. You are getting sub standard pizzas at this price, worse than the $5 dominos. Never again.

  • If your store is like mine and hasn't moved to the new sizes/prices yet, you can get 2 large pizzas, 1 side + 1 drink for $46 pickup (+$5 delivery) using the code 200828bundle. These will be the old version of large (aka extra large).

  • For those who are in Perth, Morley is having a promotion for 50% off all store menu (It's on their Facebook offer page, pickup only until 25th Sept).

  • Still ridiculous crazy high pricing at my local store in Sydney
