Panasonic ES-LV9Q 5 Blade Shaver with Multi Flex 5D Head $399 Delivered @ Shavershop

90

A well regarded electric shaver with quality Japanese spares to keep it going. I've had a lovely Braun Series 9, but the replacement heads only last 3-6 months (@$75 a pop).

You could also purchase on amazon.com.au for the same price ($399), but Shaver Shop have 5% via Cashrewards bringing the total to $380.86, and you also have the option of picking up from a store.

Note that the 9Q (with the cleaning dock/station) has a premium metal case, while the 6Q is plastic.

To address some of questions posted below, I recommend looking at the discussion on the previous deal.

  • Is this worth it?
I have a multigroom 18-1 at the moment, but this is stupidly expensive so is it worth the extra 250$?

  • totally irrelevant: i have been working from home for 5 months and my shaver was only charged once during this period…lol

  • I haven't shaved in years so not really interested but curious as to why you would get this over a $30 one that does the same thing, removes hair. Does it remove hair 10x more efficiently/smoothly?

      Better battery and battery life.
      Bigger warranty.
      Build quality much better.
      Cleaning station.
      Travel bag.
      5 blades, not 2.
      Auto sensors.
      wank factor
      more efficient and smoother.
      There's probably more.

      A $20,000 watch doesn't tell the time 20000x better than a $1 one.
A Ferrari isn't 30 times faster than a Toyota Camry.

Sometimes people would rather just pay extra for quality then low level junk.

Ps. This is way over my budget. I'm happy to sit on the $150 range.

  • Huh didn't know the 6Q was plastic.

Soft travel case seems a bit useless. They have a hard case for the Japanese/Asian market too.

    (@$75 a pop)

The panasonic replacement foil/blade is not cheap (well over $100 last time I checked) Just something to keep in mind

    • The Braun Series 9 shaver I had worked really well with the original head - I think it lasted 18 months before developing a hole. $75 for another 18 months would be fine, but I've been through two replacement heads in 6 months (bought new from a reputable store). If you read the reviews you'll see I'm not alone. You can see how expensive and disconcerting this became.

  • How's it different to LV95-S on Amazon US?

  • This is like a mans version of the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer for females

    $399 for a shaver, wtf?

  • This or the Braun series 9 $399?

    They look exactly the same

    • Perhaps look at my reply to LoungeLizard above. I've had top-of-the-line Philips, Braun and now trying Panasonic. My Braun was great, but if you can't keep it going for five years at a reasonable cost, an electric shaver becomes incredibly uneconomical.

      • Thanks I'm tossing up whether to get the Panasonic or not given I manual shave using Gilette blades and I have a stack of made in Germany that last around 3-4 shaves per blade but the quality has dropped off with the China made to the point that they are unusable for more than one shave

I read that the Panasonic shave is as close as manual so that peaked my interest given I gave up electric shaving many years ago because the shave wasn't up to scratch

      • How did you find the Philips?

I read that it isn't a very close shave (I'm very picky)

Have you got the Panasonic already or just ordering it now?

        • I only picked up the Panasonic yesterday. It really seems like a nice but if kit. I wish I had just kept my Philips now - the Braun may have done a better job in some areas, but there were places you could go over and over and it just wouldn't cut. The Philips didn't have that problem; also, the body of the unit stayed looking good (unlike the Braun).
