  • Thanks OP. How much are these usually?

    • Not sure actually, but I went there 2 weeks ago looking for a drill and saw
the single stand alone version for $99.
      ie. Ozito PXC 18V Drill Driver Kit $99 - I/N: 0124077

    • I think it's a promotional item, so it doesn't have a regular price.
      Same as this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/457018

    • Drill kit without the impact driver is normally $99, but was $49 in promo a while back, and the driver skin is normally $49.
So this time, basically throwing in the impact driver "for free".

If you want an impact driver, you won't do better.
But the average person just wants a cordless drill.

Are you really going to use the impact driver? If you needed it, you'd probably already have one :-)

      • +17

If you needed it, you'd probably already have one :-)

Strongly disagree, you don't know you need one until you have one.

Most punters think a drill is fine for putting in screws, with never having used an impact driver.

        • +1

          Agree with Fincky.
The impact driver with drill bits that have the hex end on them are my go-to for stuff around the house like this. I use it for drilling & driving. But before I got the impact driver, I wondered what all the fuss was about.

        • -1

you don't know you need one until you have one.

Good point. But still, maybe you over-estimate how much DIY the average person does. You and I are not typical :-)

        • +1

I stripped so many screw heads with my drill till I spoke to the Bunnings tool shop guy many many years ago.
Now I have 3 impact drivers. One corded. One brushless and one normal.

    • They also have a hammer drill for $49 which is also a pretty good price:

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-hammer-drill-skin-…

  • Can I use a 4.0Ah battery on these?

  • Are the Interchangeable with the rest of ozito batteries? Like the ones for my line trimmer/blower vac.

    • +2

      Yes

    • As long as they're the PXC (Power X Change) variety and not the older type like this

      • I have 3 of those older grey Ozitos - still going stong but my charger is getting flakey.

Need a new charger and you can't get them anywhere except off e-bay for silly prices (ie as much as this new kit!).

  • +6

These aren't great, but good for someone that will use them a few hours a year. If it's much more than that, go for the brushless versions.

    • +1

what is the advantage of brushless?

      • +5

More power, less battery drain and they last longer as there are no brushes to wear out.
But for these specific tools, the impact driver wobbles on the brushed version and the plastic chuck on the drill isn't my favourite.

        • +3

Yeah but you wont find a brushless set for $99 really…

          You're looking at $250-$300???

I also think people would underestimate these $99 sets. For most people you're using them every so often and they're fine. I have a nicer set than this and I would use them once a fortnight.

          • @tonyjzx: If you buy it at retail price, sure, but if you hold out they go on sale. I picked up the brushless drill driver for $50 and a 4ah battery for $40. The impact driver retails for $99 so I'm sure it has been cheaper before.

That said, it wasn't worth it for me. Used it a lot for one job then it has sat in the toolbox ever since.

            • @freefall101: But that is during not normal sales time. These sales come around less and less.

If you need it now, I think 4ah is $69 by itself?

              Also forgot the quick charger

          • @tonyjzx: Not currently available, but this is much better value: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/379448

For reference, I've got two sets of the ones advertised here and one set of the brushless ones too. I definitely agree that for someone that will use them a few times a year, these are likely good enough, but I think the brushless are just significantly better.

For me, there's a bigger gap between the Ozito brushed tools and the Ozito brushless than between the Ozito brushless and my Bosch Blue brushless, but this is obviously subjective.

  • +3

Tools - 5 Year Replacement Warranty
Batteries & Charger - 3 Year Replacement Warranty

Thats good value I think. Bunnings is generally good with warranties.

    • +2

Agreed. My 2 year old Ozito Electric Blower Vacuum Mulcher stopped working yesterday. Walked in with the failed unit and receipt, walked out with a brand new unit, no dramas in about 5 minutes.

Keep your receipts and you're good for years.

      • +1

Even without receipts they are pretty good. I returned an unwanted gift that I had no receipt for. They scanned the item and it brought up the original sale and I was refunded.

    • +1

Unless in a kit. I took back a 4 year old hammer drill that came in a kit with a fast charger and battery, and I got a new battery and charger too.

    • Mine was a painful experience at Kingsgrove Bunnings returing a failed battery from a chainsaw set which was only 7 months old. There were 4 staff involved, initially telling me the battery was fine, then it wasn't, then it wasn't purchased as part of the set, then they didn't have the same size to provide etc … finally left feeling tired with a new larger battery. Perhaps some stores are better than others.

  • +1

Almost as good as the Bosch blue deal from few months ago

  • Normal pack $169: (BUT you get an extra battery, smaller battery though and an extra bag):
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-drill-and-impact-d…

1 battery is not enough if this is your first Ozito PXC product

  • +1

I bought an Xfinity combo (blue coloured probably cheapest brand in Bunnings) for like 30 bucks. I hoped they will last me a year or so. Over two years and still strong. I am not a handyman but loves occasional DIY in my property and they are doing a great job for me. Battery life is okay. 2.5 lasts me decent length 2 or more projects. For small projects they may last up to 10. Dont really charge them often. Moral, these will be a great purchase for regular home owners and occasional DIYers like myself and they are must have. With 5 years warranty, what could go wrong?

  • These are completely useless on hardwood. I returned mine and purchased a Bosch green set for use around the home.

    • +2

Remember, drill bit also plays a big role

      • Agreed. However, I was using the same drill bits. Also, to be fair, the bosch set was more expensive.

    • +5

Tell that to the two hardwood decks and the three 75mm thick) raised hardwood veggie gardens I built with these exact tools.

      • +2

I guess my wood is harder than your wood…

    • Works fine for me. Even used them on brick (with a masonry bit)

    • +1

I built a raised merbau deck with just these tools and they worked superbly. No complaints.

      • These will be fine for decks.

  • +1

There's also the 18V 5 piece combo for $249 in the current catalogue, which has these 2 drills, + angle grinder ($59), circular saw ($89.98) and sander ($40?) and an extra battery.

    • I can't find it on their website.

      • +1

Bunnings works on mysterious ways.. It's def in the paper catalogue together with this deal

        • +1

I checked the online catalogue and when I click on the image it says "Sorry, the product you selected is currently unavailable online". I guess the only way to order is to call?

          • @Efendy: Replying to my own comment, I was able to place an order on the phone with a delivery fee of $10. My house is less than 30km away from the store. If more than 30km, delivery is $19. You need to call the store first to confirm availability and place the order via 1800560771.

            • @Efendy: Good advice. Im keen on ordering one of these. What store did you get yours from? Id love to call them and get one as well

              • +1

@sund00bie: Northland in Preston. They had 5 when I ordered. You may need to call again to confirm stock. I received it the next day which was impressive given the circumstances.

                • @Efendy: Thanks again but i got rejected haha. Im in NSW and they said they wouldnt shop interstate :(

                  • @sund00bie: :) well If you call one of the nsw bunnings, they should be able to tell you which ones have it

        • +1
  • I bought the previous gen one when they went on sale for $50 for dual kit one battery crapped out and stopped charging after 3 months.

Was given the run around with bunnings.
My local store said they didnt have stock and to go to the one next suburb over.
    Fine.
That store said no, you need to go to your store of purchase?
Okay..i have an email from the other branch manager saying to come here???

Tried to contact ozito direct for a battery replacement - they couldn't even confirm if they had stock and told me to deal with bunnings (who were total a*holes about it.

    • Bunnings wouldn't give you a refund?

      • I think he just wants a swap as he ain't gonna pick up a replacement for this price.

        • And being line that ended there wasn't the stock to swap for.

    • So the non 'Power-X-Change' range you mean?

  • I have both of these and I am very happy with them. I think these tools are very good value for money. Yes there are others, including brushless and likes of dewalts but you ain't getting those for this price.

  • What sort of drill bit set would be recommended to get for this? Buying it to do some basic woodwork.

Would something like https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-56-piece-impact-drilling-a… be sensible?

  • -6

Notice: the drill is not powerful. Better than a toy but really not a tool.

  • Is an impact driver good for attaching weatherboards to hardwood?

    • Possibly, but what about nails?

    • +3

Should be using clouts for that

  • +1

Something to watch with Ozito Drills is that they aren't necessarily made to the same tolerances as more expensive brands. My Ozito Cordless has a wobble in the chuck. It's good enough for my knock around purposes but would be terrible trying to align for precision drilling.

  • What's the price of the impact skin regularly? I can only find brushless drivers on the site.

    • PXIDS-300 is usually $49, I beleive

  • is this enough power to change a car tyre?

  • +6

The Drill Driver in this kit is a PXECDS-110. It's an 18 volt drill, but only has a 10mm chuck and 35Nm max torque, and weight is 0.9kg.
Not to be mistaken with the PXDDS-180, which is an 18 volt drill with a 13mm chuck, 40Nm torque, but weighs 1.07kg. It comes in a $99 kit with normal charger and 3.0Ah battery.
    The Impact Driver is a PXIDS-300 that's usually $49.

    • Then there's also the hammer drill, PXHDS-180. 18V, 13mm chuck, 40Nm, 1.12kg. $129 kit with fast charger & 4Ah battery
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-hammer-drill-kit_p…

    • And of course there's another one (really?)
PXDDS-201, which is an 18 volt drill with a 13mm chuck, 40Nm torque, but weighs 1.1kg. It comes in a $169 kit with (the same) impact driver (PXIDS-300) fast charger and 2x 1.5Ah batteries.

    • +3

The other item to note, if it's important to you, is that this 10mm compact driver doesn't have 2 speed settings.
      So in summary:

model chuck torque weight speed options Buy options
      PXECDS-110 10mm 35Nm 0.9kg 0-550rpm $100 kit with impact driver & 1 x 2.5Ah, PXCDIK-250
      PXDDS-180 13mm 40Nm 1.07kg 0-400 / 0-1,500rpm $99 kit with 3Ah, PXDDK-300A
      PXDDS-201 13mm 40Nm 1.1kg 0-350 / 0-1,250rpm $169 kit with impact driver & 2 x 1.5Ah, PXDDK-301

      • So for an extra $70 you get two smaller batteries instead of one, and a more powerful drill?

        Tempting.

        • Yes, this deal is a promo sale deal, hence why it's listed on OzBargain.

      • Any advice on advantages/disadvantages with a 10mm vs 13mm chuck and the 2 speed settings?

        • Neither are essential but both can be super handy!

  • Was looking to buy a decent cordless drill for some light DIY projects around the house. If I don't need the impact driver, would the Ryobi kit be a good buy? Definitely works out to be cheaper than buying the drill set separately and then buying the drill & screw bits. With those few extra tools included, it seems like a solid deal.

    • +1

I don't think it works out cheaper! You should be able to get all the basic tools for less than $60 and then you stilll have an impact driver.
Also, 1.5Ah is a bit small.

    • +1

The Ryobi drill comes in another kit for $99, but with a 2Ah battery and a charger. So that would leave you with $60 to buy all the other stuff. So this kit would save you the bother and make it easy. Looks like a perfectly good drill for around the house.

      • @spludgey @Townstevo thank u both, picked one up.

  • Thanks OP - plenty of stock at Alexandria, NSW.

  • Is this Power X version any better/superior compared to their grey/Gray coloured standard set? Or is it just marketing ploy? I have the grey set which is few years old.. Looking to upgrade.

    • +3

The PXC range is rebranded Einhell, which is a German brand (made in China, obviously), I don't know about the grey, but given that they look so similar for some of the tools, I'd say they're likely from Einhell too.
Grey can be 12V from memory. If yours are, then there's a very noticeable difference going to 18V. If they aren't 12V, then I can't comment as I haven't used the grey cordless Ozito tools.

    • +1

Power X stands for Power eXchange, and it lets you use their Power X batteries for the tools marked with that logo. The cordless grey tool is a 12 volt drill, so less powerfull, and the 12 volt batteries won't work with the 18v tools. So, not a marketing ploy but a way of marking a range of about 70 tools with compatable batteries.
      Hope that helps

  • If you have an impact driver, what a normal drill do more? Can’t you use the impact driver to screw things?
