Anyone else waiting for the new scanwatch?

    • +1

Yep, I'm hoping the price drops are an indication that the scanwatch is coming soon. Even so, these prices are awfully tempting

Good luck with that. I was waiting on the Move ECG and gave up as it's still not out here despite being out in the US/UK/JP etc. (it's in regulation hell it would seem).

    • I'm just waiting for whatever is running the qualcomm 4100

This guy's review is pretty good.

Let's hope it'll come to our shores and thy wrist is girt by withings

    • Yes. I bought the basic (Nokia) Steel three years ago and I am definitely buying the Scanwatch even if I have to import it. Release planned for September/October in Europe, but nothing about Australia.

      • I contacted Withings support about any plans for an Australian release for the Scanwatch and received the following:

Please know that the ScanWatch will be available in Europe in September and currently, we still do not have an ETA as to when the ScanWatch will be available in the United States and in other parts of the world as we're still waiting on FDA clearance.

If you have a friend or a family member located in Europe, you can have them place the order on your behalf and ship the watch to you.

That plus the extra cost expected for the Scanwatch once released convinced me to pick up the Steel HR Sport this morning. Although I picked it up from Good Guys for $199

        • I've read somewhere* the Australian price was set to 479.00 (*https://ausdroid.net/2020/01/07/withings-latest-hybrid-smartwatch-tracks-all-the-health-things-meet-scanwatch/), which is equivalent to EURO.

          "It's due to arrive in September in Europe, priced at $249 (£229 U.K., €249) for the 38mm model and $299 (£279 U.K., €299)"

Few differences between the Scanwatch and the Steel HR Sport, but I will wait a bit more…

They don't have to wait for the FDA approval to start selling it (in Australia), but a box with "CE and FDA approved" certainly looks good.

    • I have read on one of their facebook post that they are working to get it approved in Australia

  • Damn, just bought the LG watch today 😂

40% off the scales would be nice too one day.

I bought one of these last Xmas during sales, was not as discounted as this.

They’re ok , but not great. I got the steel hr black as I wanted a smallish classic looking watch with a long life.
Despite what some pictures show , the hour/minute markings are basically invisible unless it’s held up in direct sunlight. (The white face version and sports dont have this issue).

For me a watch with no markings loses that classic look, and forces you to press a button just to accurately tell the time.

I wasn’t interested in the sports features, mostly notifications. I’ve had mixed results, the digital scrolling is good , but you can’t repeat it, so if you miss the first part of a msg you have to grab your phone anyway. The buzzer is reasonably strong though.

There’s some issues with it and IOS, the main timer/alarm software in IOS doesn’t create a normal popup notification, so you can’t sync it with the phone. (Might be an issue with all smart watches and IOS?) and I get random app lock ups meaning the phone doesn’t get notifications, they aren’t often, but I haven’t been able to work out what causes them, in forums it’s mostly IOS people that are having issues.

So I don’t really trust it’s reliability and don’t use it much, if the could address some of the issues it’d be a great watch.
