why not the mistral from WW

  • genuine question, but shouldn't fan forced oven do similar thing or air fryer are actually better?

      Airfryer benefits over oven:

      • No need to pre-heat
      • No need to turn things over to cook the other side
      • Cooks about 25% quicker than an oven
      • Crispier results for chips, nuggets, chiko rolls ect.

^ This, I bought the $49 Mistral one from Woolowrths after years of scepticism.

I don't know how it compares to the >$400 Philips ones but this little unit is amazing.
Great for nibblies, the Mistral one needs a 5 min preheat at 80 degs then nuggets cook in <10mins crispy without oil (but not dry)

        • Have you guys ever fried something eith a pastry skin like spring rolls?

I tried to cook spring rolls in the fan-forced oven and the spring rolls were cooked but still mostly white with slighlty burnt ends unlike the deep fried method where you get this even golden browns all over it.

Were you guys able to achieve the "golden browns" pastries in an airfryer?

Air fryer attempts to forces hot air through all the bits of food, whereas fan force oven circulate hot air around for the purpose of even heat distribution. Forcing air through the food simulates the deep frying action of hot oil flowing through every part to remove moisture. At least that's for the Philips style air fryers.

It's so much faster for example I can cook frozen chips in about 15 minutes from freezer to cooked. I'm pretty sure it would take longer than that in the oven so basically like a turbo oven. A downside is it's much smaller than an oven.

Mine would be charcoal in 15 minutes.

It's definitely quicker in my air fryer than my oven.. in fact it takes around 10 minutes just to warm the oven to temperature to even start the cooking (and I don't preheat the air fryer at all)… I use mine a lot now and the oven is only used for stuff I can't fit into the air fryer
