A better alternative to the Kogan cheapies - good quality and well reviewed keyboard with multimedia buttons.

Had one of the older models that lasted for 10+ years until it lost a battle with a smoothie (FWIW all the keys still worked - just couldn't clean it all out haha).

  • Sturdy/robust design with mid-profile keycap for great typing experience, quiet acoustics and durability
  • 2x USB Ports
  • Palm rest
  • Spill resistant

    KB522 - $33.29 Delivered

Is it different to the $29 one from CentreCom? or from CPL?

    • Includes shipping from Dell

      • -3

The ones above include free contactless click and collect.

Some people don't want to go OUT during this PANDEMIC, especially for victorians more than 5km away and especially for a $4 saving. You risk getting a virus but well hey, it was worth it for a $4 saving.

            @jayboi:

Some people don't want to go OUT during this PANDEMIC

It's contactless, you don't need to leave your car.

Paying more for something does not make it a bargain.

            • +3

@jv: Some people might be outside a 5km radius and might have things to do and they would have to use gas to drive there anyway, anyone would choose to pay $4 extra for it to be delivered, everyones time is worth more, not sure about yours though by the looks of it

                @jayboi:

                $4 extra

                'extra' means it costs more.

@jv: how do we ban this JV guy

              • +2

@yellowfever: Why are you asking me?

How about I ask you how do we ban you?

You risk getting a virus but well hey

The delivery you receive may have been coughed on by someone with the virus.

            No Difference in risk.

@jv: It is called antibacterial wipes

              • @jayboi:

                It is called antibacterial wipes

They cost money though… (that's your logic)

                • @jv: Everyone has them, especially now people wipe down their grocery shopping and it would be probably 2 cents a wipe from a pack

                  • -2

                    @jayboi:

                    Everyone has them

Centrecom stores? Yes, we have 3 near us.

                        I don't, so you are wrong…

@jv: Then that means you are just careless about your health

Then that means you are just careless about your health

Why? I'm wearing a mask all day.

All you are doing is playing Playstation.

        • Fair call. This might be good for those outside a 5km radius of those stores in Melbourne :)

          • -3

@Tgb: Possibly, but centrecom have $7 delivery, so you're not really saving more than a couple of bucks if you must have it delivered.

            • @jv: $36.63 delivered from Centrecom > $33.29 delivered from Dell…

    No backlight keys?

Better than a mechanical keyboard? 🤔

Are the Kogan keyboards that bad?

    • yeah we're not comparing like with like here lol

quality-wise (and probably also comfort-wise, with the built-in palm rest), the dell is better. but the kogan mechs, even the cheapest ones, would beat it on typing experience.

      • +1

        Each to their own here.

Like ideasman, I've also been using these keyboards for years and find the typing experience, quietness & durability to be fantastic (all points that people complain about with the Kogan mechs by the way).

Plus added multimedia keys, volume control dial, app hot keys, this is a much better way to spend ~$30 on a keyboard IMO.

Great keyboard..as mentioned by Tgb ..love the multimedia keys on these. Very handy.

Definitely second the comment by ideasman .. I've also been using these for years and very fond of the typing experience on these as well.

Have them at work and home. Nice post OP.

        • +1

Are they noisy?? My wife hates how loud my keyboard is! :(

    • +1

really depends on what you like. i've been using these dell keyboards for years so i'm extremely used to them. i've tried 3 mechanical keyboards over the past couple of years and i cant stand the noise!

      • So these are pretty quiet?

  • +1

I've used these keyboards before, they feel ok at first, but if you do serious amounts of typing then I would highly recommend a proper mechanical keyboard instead.

Just bought new $15 pickup on ebay. Thanks wanted one with USB ports.

    • Nicely done!

Went back to seller and bought another one, one for home and one for work. At home, I used one USB 2.0 port for a Logitech mouse receiver and the other port for a BT dongle for my headphone. Everything works beautifully.
