From 26-29 July when you list an item in the computers category on ebay.com.au you'll receive 25% off the insertion fee plus 25% off the final value fee!

This promotion is limited to the computers category so if you do list in other categories as well, you can still receive a discount on the computers category insertion fee. You’ll need to make sure that the computers category is the first item in which you list in order to receive a final value fee discount.

All other eBay fees including listing upgrades, format fees, subscription fees, as well as all PayPal fees apply as normal and terms and conditions do apply.

  • Before everyone throws in the negatives because EBay stings sellers with additional fees…consider that this is a deal for people who normally would list things in the computer category.

  • I can't understand what's eBAy is trying to do here.. why bother with all this tiny discount tactics .. 25% off listing fees.. that's not even 8c savings there for item less than 99c.

for bigger value item, say $100, the listing fee is $2.50, less 25% is a MASSIVE 62c SAVINGS !!!!**

and oh, 25% for the final value.. so the FVF for $100 is $4.63, less 25%, is yet ANOTHER MASSIVE $1.15 SAVINGS !!!

    so total savings is $1.75

    but wait..

    there's more and here's come paypal !!! … $100 + (say $15 postage) = $115 .. and paypal fees are…

    $3.06

you get $1.75.. but pay back $3.06 to paypal..

    and guess who's the winner..

    so.. it's neg for me..

    • I totally understand what your saying Elcheapo but you got to compare apples to apples. We could say buy the item on EBay for cheaper on most deals here. But for people who sell IT related products, this could be a good deal. I mean it could mean a lot of money saved for people who have a lot of equipment laying around.

The Free slurpee deal only had a value of about $3 yet it was one of the most voted on deals here.

    • I agree with you elcheapo! ebay sure is a monopoly on online auctions so the savings become trivial without competition!

  • Even with 25% off Feebay is still expensive.

So a red minus from me.

  • I love feebay lol!
Sold my tv for $750 profit LOL!!!!!

    • Nooooooo…….ebay is the enemy of the bargain hunter. It inspires people to buy more than they need in order to sell on ebay.

      • From the past records, there are always those buying once-off bargains listed here and then resell them on eBay. As the result there are actually fewer people that can enjoy the bargain…

But then some would think, "hey why didn't I think of that first?!"

  • I'm giving it a negative for two reasons;

1, Ebay is greedy their prices has always been high and now sellers are forced to use paypal.
2, Ebay service has ever been great, trying to contact them for help on a listing takes hours.

and now for my look on why they are doing this.

IT goods has always been a large part of ebay revenue and now with paypal rules for the future many sellers (who are GST evaders) can not sell because there will be a recored of their income ( how many times you brought something brand new come ebay and you got a TAX INVOICE) for me only 20% of the times. with that factor applying alot of sellers have left.

    which leads to this.

  • Yes addo, you are right but perhaps you should know that since Ebay is registered their business in Swissland so all company registed sellers on Ebay Australia will not be able to claim their GST in listing fees. Therefore, some sellers try to avoid giving tax invoices for that reason. Ebay is the enemy of itself. If sellers aren't making any profits on Ebay, what's the point of selling?! They have ruined the whole purpose of online trading.

  • When the prices are already inflated to begin with…25% discount isn't really all that good.

Its like a shop that marks products up 30% over the RRP then advertises a 25% off sale.

  • All the comments that have been made are fair enough, but in the end when I want/need to sell stuff, ebay is pretty much the first (and usually only) place I go to. TBH, there isn't much of an alternative in Australia! Oztion hasn't picked up enough numbers YET.

The Paypal debacle is unfortunate, but as of now you can still accept any form of payment you wish. Paypal is just convenient for many people out there, especially if you're buying from the US!

I wish this 25% off special had come one week sooner though, I just sold my macbook - I wouldve saved at least $10 :)

In the end, I'm happy to pay a $30 fee to ebay for selling a laptop for a better-than-expected price!

    • You make a good point. In a seller's perspective, selling on Oztion will fetch less demand therefore you will sell at less. Even with all the fees added, you'd still do better selling on EBay. Guess what? OZtion uses Paypal as well so you will still get hit with those fees. I've learned my lesson on paying by Bank Deposit and will probably always use Paypal for all my buying purchases.
