Hi,

I bought newspapers this morning to keep myself sane from Lockdown.

However on page 23, it states "Scan this barcode for 50% off one weekday paper when you purchase in person at Coles Supermarkets between August 10 and September 18 2020.

Look like code is generic.

*Maximum 1 paper per transaction.

Redeem at Coles Supermarkets only. Excludes Coles Express and Coles Online.

Can either purchase "The Australian" or Herald Sun.

Please note - barcode must be original from a hardcopy newspaper, must be weekday (not weekend newspapers).

These things are sold to keep you scared, not sane.

  • +25

Would be better if it was the Age or SMH rather than Murdoch toilet paper included in the deal

    • +24

Yeah, I wouldn't waste my spit on these Murdoch rags let alone my hard earned OzBargain dollars!

      • +3

        Right on.

    • Digital version is usually free through your local library

      • +1

With most people have internet at home who needs to buy a newspaper.

to keep myself sane from Lockdown.

Your sanity will be short lived if you rely on News Corp

  • No :)

  • +14

Fake news… Given the poor quality of this muckraking journalism it should be free!

  • +10

Save your brain cells and read anything else

neg for murdoch fake right wing news

Would've been a bargain when the loo rolls were being stripped off the shelves, but now that the Quilton is free flowing I have no need for this.

  • +1

Not a deal. Should be free, therefore non-existent.

    • +1

Nah, the more expensive the better. Best thing Murdoch and his crony editors did for this nation was putting a paywall up for their online content. If only they'd go one step further and do the same for Sky/Fox.

Their disdain for climate science is legendary, and this is typical of the utter garbage they regularly dole out to their dull-witted readers. After decades of the same bare-faced lies and bias from News Corp even his youngest son James has decided enough is enough.

  • I don't like using newspaper for wiping. Too much dust or ink residue. Straight to the recycle bin for me.

It's really sad to see the state of our "journalism" :-( These papers are so manipulative … scary.
Not sure how you can stay sane with these papers and even waste money on them … just read Ozbargain … keeps you happier :-).

Lol at All these virtue signallers shopping at Coles still

    • +7

      Sorry grasstown,
Not attempting to be virtuous. Quite serious about the damage this organization does in it's pursuit of propaganda for Murdoch and his interests. Needs to be called out for what it is.

      • -4

Will you call out Coles? Who supports the paper?

        • +3

Coles has a corporate agenda, Murdoch a political agenda. They may both be stinky agendas but quite different in nature and deserving of different types of criticism.

          • -2

@fantombloo: Or is it that we shop at Coles but don’t read the paper.

            • +1

@grasstown: I'm not really interested in downtalking Murdoch and his douchebaggery, or defending Coles, but tell me, what shop that sells papers explicitly boycotts selling Murdoch papers? Which specific shops do you suggest going to?

              • @fantombloo: If you stopped shopping at his advertisers then the paper would be no more. There are grocery shops, butcher's, liquor stores, florists, fruit shops, fish shops, that you and get up can go to that do not advertise in his paper.

          • @fantombloo: I think Murdoch's agenda is equally corporate. He's just willing to take things further to benefit his interests. i.e. in the past he has supported Labor elections - if he thinks it's good for his business.

  • delivery is much cheaper

  • +2

There is way cheaper toilet paper than this stuff.

Fails to deliver news, instead filled with opinions.
