It's a good price for 250GB but the 500GB is much better value at $98 delivered from Centrecom or $95 pickup from Umart

    • Is there any real world difference between the Samsung and something like the crucial bx 500 going for circa $30 cheaper?

      • +2

Apparently, Crucial BX500 similar in performance to samsung 860 QVO series, EVO would be better and similar to MX500 series from Crucial. Unless you're regularly transferring large files and doing sustained read/writes you probably wouldn't experience incredible real world differences. I use mx500 for daily computing/gaming, sometimes rendering a home video or two, and it's ok.

Depending on the model as some of them dont have DRAM on the chip so they have very big performance differences for the smaller files

Which is why a Pro and Evo and QVO all have different price points, but are all SSD's

Faster than a spinner but you can get faster for a few extra

With SSD's they normally are cheaper due to RAM/Build changes and Warranty

Yes, the BX500 is dram-less which affects speeds and durability. Difference between MX500 and Evo 860 is negligible for everyday use.

      • Thanks for clarifying slowty, Brent and Fire.

Will spend the extra and just an 860 evo or MX.
