i see the mistake my bad lol
not a bad deal m8 righto
$5 flat rate shipping for big items would be worth it (ie. Computer Cases, etc).
You sound great at parties.
Thanks OP, $5 shipping is a decent "deal" for large item
The late gesture is better than never, as staged 4 lockdown started almost 3 weeks ago, on Sun, 2 August 2020, 6 PM
yeah, but MSY management only just got the last fortnight's sale figures.
MSY, and most PC retailers, are already razor thin margins so can't have a sale to increase revenue.
for PSU and cases $5 shipping is pretty sweet. a PSU is upwards of 2kg. pitty MSY don't have much brand choice for quality PSU.
which ones are the only good quality ones?
Of the ones that MSY sell, Antec, Coolermaster, Thermaltake and Corsair all make good stuff. Look up reviews of the particular models though.
Rotanium for example is something that MSY sell and is garbage.
This and all company 'gestures' and 'support' are largely marketing. Ultimately they have probably seen their store sales drop further than anticipated and this is about trying to perk it up.
I am sure they resisted as pre corona there was always a significant line and these guys appear to run very close on margin relying on turn over to keep the lights on. Where as online picking, packing, shipping, dealing with issues isn't cheap.
The only think i would be wary of is from memory MSY have a bit of a shaky relationship with ACCC/Vic consumer afairs when it comers to warranty as is, throw in postage damage/missing risk i personally wouldn't go down this path.
This covers it:
I’ve only ever ordered low cost items from MSY and never had to make a warranty claim fortunately.
Nowadays MSY arent even competitive LOL. If you use STATICE and have or sign up for Amazon Prime then its alg.
As a local B&M store it is still competitive.
At least MSY in SA have got some what decent warranty services. Can't speak up for other states though.
To support or to be supported….
MSY cheap as chips, no service guaranteed
RMA'd my RAM through MSY 8 years ago, still waiting!
<3 MSY
I remember the waiting lines for these guys, always busy. They had really good prices back in the day (20 years ago?).
I remember the swap meets too, Collingwood, etc.
Wonder if they still ran pre covid.
yeah frequented Collingwood & Camberwell back in the 90s 😹
Don't think swaps been going after places like MSY Malvern opened, also outlets for cheaper bulk CDRs etc
Even before 2020 MSY has since shut all their smaller stores near me though :( especially the ones <5km. Can't travel to Malvern or Pascoe Vale right now.
The Malvern store closed at the end of last year…
I had no idea. Do you know why it closed?
@d123: No, but North Melbourne is gone too.
@Nom: Not good.
@d123: Sad panda :( haven't visited Malvern or Pascoe for some years now. Last ones I visited this yr were Dandenong and Ringwood; north Melb was my regular.
Guess without MSY there's others like Scorptec who can sell me parts… but I don't buy components as often as I buy media & cheap accessories :) where MSY reigns supreme.
Found MSY selling surgi masks last visit :/
Scorptec is offering free shipping to people in Victoria for orders over $200. Bought a whole heap of stuff for a new PC build this week (including large/heavy case), so would have cost about $50 shipping without the promotion, so worked out well for me.
it's free parking in VIC (city of melbourne)
