Cheaper than my Previous deal from AmazonUS Thanks to OzBragain!

The above listed is for the Chrome plated version. Cheaper for the below version if you dont work in wet areas and wipe down after use to avoid rust spots.

$58 w/Prime for the Knipex 86 01 180 black atramentized version

These are the Gen 2. They differ then Gen 1 by
*Laser etched jaw markings.
*Handles are satin vs smooth.
*Metal handles are thinner but have less flex.
*Jaws have wider range but has larger gap between the handles.
*Lighter weight approx 30g lighter

These Knipex Pliers Wrench are a fantastic tool that replaces a number of tools. This is the 7"/180mm sized version,** Chrome plated** has jaws that can accommodate nuts and fittings to approx 34~mm in size. I my case replaced a entire set of spanners and gripping tools.

I usually have these in my tool bag or bike kit for portability.

Description.

*With narrow gripping jaws- for fastening/loosening situations requiring a slim tool
*Fast adjustment by pushing a button directly on the work piece and replaces a complete set of spanners
*Parallel jaws allow infinitely variable gripping of all widths to the specified maximum size
*For careful installation of finished-surface components and also tile breaking
*Lever transmission greater than 10-1 for strong gripping power

Why would you buy these over these?
    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07JNFYMLX/ref=ppx_yo_d…

On top of that the set I posted are in Metric not inches.

Chances are you will be working in wet areas with these. So ease of maintenance and less rust spots on the chrome plated version.
Also I find that in dark places with reach issues. The black just seems to be less visible for positioning than the chrome plated ones.

If these arent important for your use, get the tool blacked version.

    • How do you tell if metric or imperial? I wonder if this would make a noticeable difference to the grip it has on bolts and nuts, if it's designed to fit imperial sizes and we're using it on metric.

      • These all have Metric markings - The Imperial are moot and are for mainly the US Market to gauge the size and length of the tool.
The head dont lock to a specific mm but rather when you squeeze the handles they move and clamp down from a larger size to a smaller size.

Are you sure you are thanking to OzBragain?

OzBragain is the user who let me know the price drop. Not sure how to tag users using shortcode :(

      • Oh my bad…I thought it was a typo :|

  • I own Knipex pliers, diagonal cutters and the Cobra multi-grips and love their quality but have never used these before. Are there any situations where a normal adjustable wrench be more suitable then these pliers wrench?

Check out this video which covers exactly that question and demonstrates it :)

I bought the 8601180 version when the $54 deal happened https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/550326

They are great and so much easier to use than a normal adjustable wrench. Quality bit of gear and I now get why people pay a premium for Knipex tools.

    • Thanks. I've added the link for the Black version Knipex 86 01 180

  • Weren't they $61 a month ago (from 3 camels)?

    • +1

      Item(s) Subtotal: $61.99 + Delivery:$10.66 = Total Before GST: $72.65 + GST:$7.27 = Total:$79.92, so paid $79.92 finally.
This has prime so no delivery fee, final value is $70.84. Pity :(

i believe that patents have expired so trojan and others now have copies, bunnings also has the trojan version.
knipex is german made and always a quality product, but some people might need the functionality on a lower budget.

    • Correct. I think most of the German brands have started to make their own version of the patent all with varying degrees of success.
See reviews of other pliers wrench. Another unit was this from Wera 6004 but its application is very specific and very pricey per unit.

I have not see the Trojan version at Bunnings yet. Will check it out and see what the quality is like.

      • Trojan tools are built for the occasional once a month person. They don't last as long.

Thanks op, got the 5” version for $56 delivered, seems to be $100 plus locally.

  • The 250mm chrome comfort grip has been around $82 for many weeks (free del with Prime).

  • Price Dropped to $62.99. Lowest was 61.50 according to the camels.

  • Has Amazon AU dropped Amazon UK prime products?

    • Yes… I need to expire this deal.
Was great while the deals were there. Doubt would pop up again.

      • Just checked and they are still selling uk listings. But some have unfortunately been removed…

        • Shipped to au? I get can't deliver message
