Is Aramex a Scam? (Fastway Courier)

I ordered an item on eBay, and a few days later I got a tracking email from Aramex saying my item had been delivered, left in letterbox.

So I have a look in the letterbox and there is nothing. So I go on my CCTV and look around the time the delivery was supposedly made and a SUV with 'Contract Courier' slows down in front of my house (end of a cul de sac) but then just continues on.

I sent a message with a snapshot of CCTV showing the vehicle, and offer to provide the full footage of them coming into my cul de sac, slowing down in front of my house only to shoot off again without stopping, timestamped around the same time it was marked 'Delivered'.

I contact Aramex every few days to their support, eventually got told local agent will contact me. I continued to respond to my support ticket without response every few days. 12 days after original complaint I finally received this message:

HI Todd,

Unfortunately there is no photos required to be taken on these LBX freight labels.

I'm sorry that you do not have your parcel.

.Please contact your sender to advise.

UBI Logistics are the original freight company who have forwarded your parcel to Aramex for delivery.
These parcels require no signature to be obtained, must be under 300grams, be to an in-town address and must fit in your letterbox. These parcels also .don’t have insurance coverage.
If your parcel is stating it has been delivered but you have not received the item in your letterbox, or if it is showing as being returned to sender, please >contact the sender to advise.
Thank you

Fastway Couriers Orange

Is this a common scam? Do their couriers just drive past your house so their app or something registers as them delivering and they steal your item? I don't see how this is the sellers problem, according to them the tracking number they sent the item on is 'Delivered'.

Any advice would be much appreciated. The item isn't high value but it's the principle, I hate being stolen from.

Its hit and miss with Fastway. It all depends on the 'franchisee'. The person that use to deliver around my previous location was great.
None of this run and dump stuff. Use to come and actually get a Signature or after a while call me by first name basis. This was in 2018 though and things might have changed with the shift to re branding to HQ

Send the footage to the sender and let them deal with it.

    • I tried them at first and they just sent me the tracking url saying it was delivered but I'll follow them up again. It sucks cause I honestly think the seller did their part initially, wish they chose a less scammy company to deliver :( but hopefully they have more luck claiming on their end.

  • A friend's relative used to steal a lot of computer related equipment. He was a fast way courier. I did not know how he did it because the Van/phone should have GPS logging, and often couriers are required to take a picture of item sitting at front door if they do just leave it, But with your description of events, he could have faked the delivery by stopping outside for a moment, and probably FastWay drivers arent' required to take photos, so they can steal stuff. Another perk of being a FastWay driver

    • Even if you have to take a photo not hard to do that then take the parcel with you back to the van 😂

    Fastway to make a buck

  • Try contact the person who handles the deliveries in your area - https://www.aramex.com.au/courier-locator/

Not sure what will show up for you but I can see their delivery area (suburbs), their name, their phone number, their timetable and their "run"

If that doesn't work contact the sender as suggested above

    • Oh wow thanks, it lists their direct numbers, i'll try this.

A similar event happened with Amazon in the US. The delivery person "delivered" the package to the house, took a photo of the package and then stole the package after taking the photo. Little did they know the owner had a Ring doorbell which captured everything.

I had a similar issue but no footage. Item was due on Friday and showed on board for delivery, waited all day at home and no item so thought it would arrive Monday.
Called Fedex follow week and they showed a photo of the package on the front door… AND suddenly, the same day it showed as Delivered on Thursday.

But what gave it away was the photo showed the parcel over a wet porch. And my porch only ever gets wet on in heavy rain + winds as its about 4.5M inside covered area. It did rain heavy only on Friday but bone dry the following week… Basically driver took it item. Scanned the label at home after getting a call from HQ.

Amazon refunded me but W T H with the morals of the driver..

Omg, this happened to me last week as well, except that I don't have CCTV installed. I never suspected that the delivery person would steal the package as I thought it was just some random person who took it (even that the package would be hard to spot). As soon as it was shown as delivered, I went downstairs and it was gone. Upon telling Amazon my package was stolen, the delivery guy uploaded a screenshot showing my package at my front door. And read what you just said, I am certain that the guy probably just took it.

  • Always have had issues when fastway "delivers' they flag things as being delivered, when they haven't even bothered. It happened 3 times from when they were being used by Amazon to deliver items. I just asked Amazon for a refund/redelivery, quite annoying having to request.

    • Not always Fastway, even Aus post drivers do this. I get the notification that it’s been delivered, but nothing on the property. Luckily it turns up 30-60mins later.

  • Bikies ….. easy solution

  • Wow that's really bad customer service. Hopefully this doesn't catch on… the worst thing used to be getting carded.

  • I always have issues with the Orange franchise claiming ‘not able to find’ and require me to check my address.. I think I know my address!

  • Why not go down to the Orange Fastway office with the footage? Probably doing it to lots of people.

  • Hi

SInce they have change hands company is out of control, driver deliver my parcel to a wrong address and it took me two weeks before i received a replacement apparently lost in Transit.

Report it to the police. It is theft after all. They may have had numerous complaints, but no evidence. Don't know if what you have constitutes evidence though ..

  • I had a a problem with this lot yesterday. Email at 1:00pm to say package is delivered but still no sign of it at 5:00pm. Home all day. Hope I can get it back as it has taken 15 days to come from China and this lot lose it at the last hurdle. Tracking shows it got to Dandenong and I live at Hastings so its gotta be the local delivery. Gave them 1 star on their Trust Pilot survey.

    • finally got my package yesterday. It seems that my location (down the Mornington Peninsula) was just too far away for Couriers Please and they sub contracted to another more local guy. Then CP flagged it as delivered immediately they handed it off even though the other guy took a few days to deliver. They then had the stupidity to ask me to do a survey before they even flagged it as delivered. Amazingly unco-ordinated.

  • Ahh… I hated fastway all the time because their deliveries are never on time. Then I noticed a few new aramex branded delivery trucks and thought, oh, a new player! Little did I know it was a rebranding…

THEY ARE SCAM!!! no doubt. Now I ask seller what delivery company they use before purchase. What a joke!!!

  • like someone above said, depends on the courier i guess. im in an area of Sydney where the guy just does not care. has happened multiple times in the span of a couple of months.

im home everyday, awake early even. He doesn't even leave a card anymore.

product review gives them 1.2/5 from 7,500 reviews. No wonder they've changed their name….

  • I'd say definitely don't use fastway, from my experience.
