Travel Exemption with Victoria during Stage 4 Lockdown

Has anyone applied for a travel exemption for over 5km during Stage 4 lockdown?

A friend (Australian PR) of mine needs to travel into the city to the Taiwan embassy to get something done, which he considered essential.

1) Is there an online application for such a travel exemption?

2) Is there a government number for such enquiry?

I have gone through https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/stage-4-restrictions-summary-cov… but found no answer there.

Thanks!

  • The purpose of the visit to the embassy is not clear, but it doesn't seem to fit within the current restrictions.
What would be the impact if they had to wait another 4 - 5 weeks?

    • Only a few possibilities if you are going to an embassy.

      • Change passport
      • Apply for visa
      • Claiming asylum

Don't think any of those are important unless you want to claim political asylum because of stage 4.

If one wanted to claim asylum because of Stage 4 restrictions, I'd be visiting the NZ High Commission.

@netjock: Of course, and there are some other countries with zero cases.
            I was expressing my preference.

        • Can us Melbournians claim asylum in QLD, WA or even SA?

          • @shakman: Apparently if you are rich enough or have friends in government circles, you can do whatever you want to do

            • @GG57: Yes, apparently one of the Fox family, who is a New Queensland Resident, is a "Truck Driver"

I was happy the Simmons Family got caught on their "Little Boat" in QLD and might be charged

@shakman: Plenty more being exposed beyond those two examples.

  • What is the task that is required to be done?

Is the Taiwan embassy still operational during this time?

Why not just call the Vic DHHS Coronavirus hotline and ask?
