This is very cheap for this filter.
This will be the US model but I have been running a US one with a power adapter on my 4ft tank for years.

  based on the info on the amazon site it is 120v 43watts and 230-240v 41watts so plug adapter only

  Good price. Normal cheap is about $690 at your lfs.
  Reminds me that I should fix up my two FX5 and sell them.
  Re Sump v Canister filter: If you have the space underneath your setup for a sump and want to set up a siphon over-flow or drill into the tank glass for the bulkheads to handle the over-flow, then a sump is absolutely the better option. Plenty of reasons why it is better, but it has a larger setup effort over a simple canister filter.
  Possibly the only thing a canister filter can beat it at is having a lower power-consumption and being quieter.
