A good deal but damn that thing is ugly.

    • +1

      i know right.

that was the deal breaker for me.

Not to mention how much space it takes up.

Engineer: Sir, where would you like to put our logo on the new classic gaming product.

Management: I want the whole damn thing to be our logo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • +2

I cannot find anything on the website or any reviews which mention if this is also functional as a pair of arcade controller(s) if plugged in via the external usb port. The controller components look excellent.

Running a game made 40 years ago won't look any different on a 4K TV, that's not how it works…

Also, simple solution - Don't run it on a 80" TV.

    • +4

If you run this on a 20" tv you will see the pixels. But saying 20" won't impress the internet strangers.

Lowest was on April, price was $239

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iircade/iircade-immersi… is much better for anyone looking at retro arcade games.
Note: No shipping to AUS though.

    • +1

      And doesn't have Capcom.

    • +4

Agreed pretty cool - but you cant really compare if we cant even get it shipped to AU

      • "11 Games included with each console pre-installed + hundreds available to download from the iiRcade marketplace from $2.99 per title."

  • +1

hmmm tempted if it were closer to $200.

Would look nice mounted above my bed like a Moose Head.

  • The idea is not bad, but can we load other games than the preloaded 16?

    • Do a quick search, there should be some methods of Jailbreak. As far as official source for games i don't think so; besides the Neo Geo Arcade stick which does have official game downloads.

      • If I would bother with jailbreaking, wouldn't a third party controller be better?

        • +1

Perhaps, that's relative to you. I personally wouldn't, but others might.

It seems the Capcom home arcade Reddit are into the idea of adding the games after a quick look, and looks to be very easily achieved without any major software changes.

Just buy a Pandora's Box instead

    • is Pandora box any good? I can't seem to find any good review, also there seems to be a fake Pandora version also

      • Pandora is okay, but not all games work on it that great, all are laggy, some too laggy to pla, some have tearing, some have poor sound etc.
If you just want an occasional game to relive the old days, then it is fine. If you want to play more than that, then give it a miss.

An RPi4 and an arcade controller actually works better, I ended up gutting my Pandora and putting a Pi4 in there and it is much better than it was.

The MISTer is the best option if you have the cash, FPGA emulation is way better and more accurate, I love mine. Hook that up to a CRT and it's amazing.

        • thanks for the review!, guess I am skipping this then. Preordered the Sega Astro City Mini from Playasia so I'll just wait for that

        • I agree. I got a Pandora's Box off Gumtree (admittedly an old one) and used it for about an hour before I just thought bugger it and plugged it into a Pi instead. Far nicer experience all round.

I was going to put the Pi inside the Pandora's Box because it seemed more elegant, but then realised it'd need power and HDMI leads hanging out of it so thought it was actually tidier to just have a single nice long USB cable from it to a Pi stuck behind the TV.

Works well - the PB hardware isn't that bad for a casual player and the Pi emulates most old stuff will enough.

bought one thankyou.. agree price isnt the best and could do it cheaper with a pi and joysticks but i cbf with doing that. this will be a good intro to gaming for my 2yr old kid, he can do some button mashing

there is a usb port on it, so im hoping later down the track we can add new games to it (theres also wifi so maybe can purchase/download new games?)

My 2 year old appealed to the controller he didn't really like the arcade stick. Pretty much 2d platforming on the nes to now one year later xbox halo.

    • Enjoy mate! There's a reddit which shows a list of a few hundred games that work on it, and possibly more to come. Apparently it's not hard to add more.

  • +1

Picked one of these up a while back. Whilst it is a little underwhelming at first, it is very well built and there are some awesome things coming for it. Check out the reddit page here https://new.reddit.com/r/CapcomHomeArcade/

  • Any recommendations which one I should buy if I want a well built machine with more than just 16 Capcom games?

  • +5

Holy shit it has Alien vs Predator!!!!!!! My childhood is complete!!!

    • One of the best arcade games ever.

  • +3

There's some controversy around the fact that the emulator (FBAlpha) was not allowed to be licensed for use in this commercial product. Yet it had.
    https://techraptor.net/gaming/news/legal-dilemma-of-capcom-h…

If this is true, then this is pretty poor move by one of the developers who consented to this for what seems like financial gain, without the rest of the contributors getting nada. It's the whole reason why all the developers abandoned any further development of FBAlpha, and now there's a new fork called FinalBurn Neo.

My name and avatar is derived from Capcom fighting games. I, personally, wouldn't support this product. It's fugly, and should've taken some design cues from the legendary Sega HSS-0130. Casual players will do fine with a pandora's box, and the more hardcore players are likely to have 1 or more arcade sticks and play on Fightcade.

  • For handheld I picked up one of these bad boys today, looks awesome runs MAME, N64, Dreamcast etc. https://www.goretroid.com/collections/frontpage/products/ret…

    • Do like the minimalist appeal of these devices.
      The designer did good.

    • Do you know what the build quality is like? They look pretty good.

Edit: Oh wait nvm, it's not officially on sale yet.

      • Reviews look good but not sure, good price too.

        • +1

Yeah I just watched this review on youtube. Looks good.

    Aliens vs predator, mmmmmmmmm
