This is a very good price. Wish I had the money to upgrade

  • More than 10 in stock?

Hoping to see some good deals on the X3600H soon.

  • If only had the X2600H on sale!!
    Edit; ooh, they do

  • What is the set up for these kind of recivers ,I have projector.projector to av reciever and receiver to speaker?Sorry if it's a silly question.

    • +1

      That's correct.
This specific AVR has multiple HDMI out, so works if you have both a TV and a Projector

Sound United Training - A neat YouTube channel by the makers of Denon and Marantz. Various videos on their tech and new features.

  • I'm still pissed my 3400h was mis-marketed. I was expecting 4k upscale on zone 2 hdmi out. It doesn't. That's what I needed and why I bought it.

Still looking for a receiver that does. Buying a second receiver isn't an option unfortunately.

Do you know of any that 4k upscale on zone 2?

  • It should be 200W per channel in the description

  • Was looking at the cheaper denon models that are 7.2, but still have Dolby atmos. How is this possible, when they don't have outputs for ceiling speakers, like this 9.2 model?

    • +1

On my Marantz 7.2 I get to set the last speaker pair to either front height, rear surround, zone 2 , atmos etc

  • Got me excited then. Been waiting for a 11.2 channel for a good price. This is a very good buy if you’re in the market for one.

  • Pulled the trigger on this on Friday. Was deciding between this and the 6500 but the price difference got too big with this extra price drop to justify the 6500. Klapp shipped it the same day as well.

    • +1

Yeah on the same boat. Currently have 7.1 (5.1.2) and want to add 4 more speakers to make 7.2.4. Looking at the s6400 late 2017 model. https://www.melbournehifi.com.au/products/denon-avr-x6400
      6500 is a grand more.

      • Does your avr have 11.2 pre out ? If so then just get a 2ch power amp for your front speaker

        • not that I know of. I have the Denon AVRX3400H 7.2ch. it has pre-outs but im pretty sure that 7.2 is max channels I can have. ive spoken to a few people about this and I believe im stuck with 7.2

        • My Plan is to get the 6400 and down the track get a 3ch pre amp to power the LCR to give them more power.

        • Have a look at the x3600, it has 11.2 output. They go for around 2k, could even be cheaper now with the xx700 series announced. If funds permits, I would go for a 5 or 7 channels power amp. This way all your floor level speakers has the same power and tone.

          • @Nomoneynotalk: I managed to find one place - audio connection in Sydney, who had a 3600 left. They were willing to sell it for $2k, I suspect there might be more room to move now but at that price you might as well go the 4500 with the extra power and better DAC.

            • @cykezero: Thanks heaps for that! thats a good point. I will look at either the 3600 or the 4500. 4500 also gives you zones so wanting to also use this too. looks like ill be upgrading sooner than I thought. thanks heaps people.

            • @cykezero: That’s a great option. How much does the x4500 goes for? Is the $2100 for the x4500 available at other places too or just a once off from Klapps? I agree, for $2100 the x4500 is a better buy. The x3600 has imax enhance.

I have external power amps, 2 ch + 7 ch, so internal power is not that critical, I think the xx600 series can turn off internal amp and use the avr as a pre amp. Haven’t verified that, would be good to reduce heat etc. For movies I think the dac improvement is minimal. I use a seperate pre and dac for music.

I am using a Marantz 7012 and looking for a pre that can do 7.2.6, saying that I am happy with my current 7.2.4 setup

@Nomoneynotalk: The 4500 is $2199 at klappav. Not sure how many they have left, think it was about 4 on Friday.
The only other place I found it was Clef hifi in Melbourne. They wanted $2500 but suspect they'll match klappav.
These things are getting harder and harder to get new. Everyone is waiting on the x700 which some stores already have but lots are already accounted for.

          • @Nomoneynotalk: You my friend are a gem and why I love this platform. thats exactly what I wanted as I will be getting a power amp to power my front LCR's. good point and if I can afford it I will get a 7amp but that would be a huge jump in price. will most likely get the anthem 3ch. will decide between the 3600 or the 4500 (more power and extra two zones).

@Yan47: consider preloved gears too. Cheap out

Emotiva xpa-7 gen3 : good solid power, runs cool, great bangs for your bucks. Little clinical and lean. Buy the channels you need, upgrade modules are expensive.

Elektra theatron HD 7: good all rounder, Australian made, solid punch and warmth. Cheaper to get the 5 ch and add 2 extra modules if you are in Melbourne.

Rotel: tried their older power amps, plenty of power, little lean, had the rmb1552mk2, not bad yet not amazing.

Parasound: powerful sound, very capable. Hard to get spare parts.

Those are some I have tried, there are plenty more good options out there. Try out other than the emotiva, most of the power amps I tried are used.

Worth test them out and can depends on your room, taste, budget etc.

              • @Nomoneynotalk: Any recommendations for reputable marketplaces of used gear?

@Nomoneynotalk: Thanks heaps for all the knowledge. sounds like you have a lot of experience in the field. I will look out for used items too but so hard to come by. quality amps or speakers that is. maybe im just being picky.

if curious check out the video I made a while ago of my system. in the process of selling my fronts.
                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUmoKuvRTsw

the I called Klapp and they don't have any 4500 left :( and will only be getting in the new model: 4700H. im in no rush to upgrade the amp so I will wait for the right time. working on getting the 8000L's so I can tuck the speakers behind the projector screen.

                thanks for all the knowledge!

Mate give digital cinema in Auburn a call. They offered me the 6500 for $4k - ask for Bowen. I think they had 2 left on the weekend.

        • thats a good price. however i want to provide more power to the fronts regardless down the track so a 3600 or 4500 is more suitable. no point getting 6500 when I won't utilise the power. will soon be getting the Klipsch THX 8000L for LCR's. thanks!

          • @Yan47: Klipsch can be little on then bright side, worth look at amps with little warmth to balance them. Vincent tube hybrid amps works well with Klipsch.

            • @Nomoneynotalk: I've always seen Klipsch paired with Denon amps. not sure if im just sticking to what I see on the net and not brave enough to try something new. would be nice to pair it with a Marantz but a bit on the pricy side. now I know which model to look out for so I will keep an eye on them and wait for the right deal to come up again.

              • @Yan47: Great video and very nice setup. Given your current environment, I would keep it at 5.1.2. Have 2 extra ceiling or back speakers won’t give you any advantage. What are you chasing or missing in your system?

What you have there is great, here are some suggestions to consider.

                1. Have a thick rug in front of the sofa, under the sub and the left side of the room.

                2. Place some thick and dense foam under your LCR speakers to isolate the cabinet resonate.

                3. Set all your speakers to small and set the crossover around 90hz for lcr and 100 for surrounds and 110 for atmos. There is a good video https://youtu.be/0zgIA2LcHcs

                4. If space permits get a sealed sub to make a 5.2.2 eg svs sb2000 or rel t9i, to give you more punch and better bass spread.

                5. if you are sticking with denon or
Marant, then consider the Audyssey app, it will help you to dial it in that little bit more.

                6. Separate power amp will give you that effortless power, more relax sound and extra dynamic.

                7. Try different speaker cables to suit your taste but don’t got over board.

                • @Nomoneynotalk: Really appreciate the suggestions. that video is about a year old and have since moved. we've been lucky to have a dedicated room now.

Room now has thick carpet with new sofa and I do find this better. more direct sound. still need to close off one side though.

new speakers will be in wall but yes I did want to get isolation pads and also thought they were too close to the wall

I am subscribed to that home theatre dude :) have followed a few of his suggestions. once I get the new LCR's will re-access. have always kept them as small and I think I have them at 80hz at the moment and 100 for height.

definitely will be getting a second sub. I will put the R-112SW on the side of the sofa and will get a SVS for the front. I was also looking the Rel's. without a doubt I feel a lack of even base. but turning it up is too boomy hence why I need two!

Yeah will be sticking to Denon but will also look at power amp down the track. will get 5.1.4 setup first (when I get the 9.1amp as discussed above and I already have a second pair of height waiting to go up) then 7.1.4 when I get the power amp

didn't think of speaker cables. currently using 14G. ill have to try maybe larger ones for the front as they are longer runs for the new speakers.

will link new setup once I have the video up. thanks heaps!

                  • @Yan47: That’s is great, try moving the sub around the room for a better bass balance. You want good control instead of boomy bass. A good bass management will let you hear the different level of bass and not just the boom and rumbles. For my room I have 2 Rels (60-110hz) the front for the punch, little rumble and a svs (30-120hz)in the back corner for the rumbles and height lfe.

For the avr, my suggestion is to get one with 11.2 or 13.2 pre out. Generally , you will get much better results from external amp. Maybe wait little longer and get an 5 or 7 channels power amp.

Cable can be a rabbit hole, I find the Blue Jean cables are good performance and not too expensive. See if you can audition a few different cable brands and types to see if that is what you are after. It wouldn’t be my first priority.
