Minor Car Accidents on The Roads

Hi guys

I drove home today and noticed an accident happened on the 3 lane road.

The accident was minor, the cars looked fine. One probably tried to change the lines, while the other did not notice and hit him. It all happened in front of traffic light.

The problem is they took 2 lines.
I mean how about other people who have to use 1 line and spend an extra 30 min while the other 2 parties discussing who's fault it was?

I understand when cars are not moveable, but if it is a minor accident they can be moved in my opinion, at least to one line.

What do you think guys, maybe I am wrong…

By lines do you mean lanes?

Yes, if the incident is minor then you should move off the road as a courtesy to other road users.

Drivers may have been in a state of shock. Humans can make shit decisions when in a state of shock.

OP's username probably answers your question!

    • Yes I did mean lanes. Thanks for correction

They need to get dashcams and get off the road.

If it's safe, get out and take photos/videos of the cars' positioning before you move it.

When you're not at fault and the other party turns the story around to make you at fault and you're up for all the costs, none of those motorists you went out of the way to move your car quickly for to save 30 secs can help you.

I thought Three Lines Road was a special road for people with a drug habit.

    • It takes more than just three to have a problem!

    WTF

oh, TL;DR: cars had a smashy crash and blocked lanes and OP was pissed off because the lanes were blocked, so used autocorrect to ask Ozbargainers if they agree. Hilarity ensued due to coke habit spelling fubars. We're very lucky coke wasn't autocorrected to c*ck.

the sugar hit kicks in, then next thing you know, you're out of your line

You better block traffic for however long you have to otherwise if you both move your cars someone might take off
So if people get rude just tell them just wait please

Unfortunately this sort of behaviour is typical of the modern driver … couldn't give a bugger about anyone else, much less than hundreds they inconvenience by not showing the slightest modicum of common sense.

They were just in a car accident. It's an expensive and shocking experience. Be patient.

      Agree

    • "The accident was minor, the cars looked fine….."

No, it wasn't an expensive, shocking accident - it was a minor collision.

They must act to minimise disruption to all other road users.
Take pics, move your vehicles asap.

      End of story

So who wants to do some lines?

    • Let me take a $100 note first

Given the extensive delays caused by minor accidents every day, not to mention further follow-on accidents from rubber-neckers, absolutely - check for injuries, snap a picture or two, and move as far clear of the roadway as possible.

  • Most road users don't know this road rule.

The worse offenders are those that think it is ok to obstruct a single slip lane at a busy intersection preventing all traffic from turning left.

    This explains the accident.

  • I was in a similar situation, the otyer csr beibg at fault for hitting me twice stuck in traffic… He was too busy on his phone in his hand to pay attention to the cars around him, so when he hit me, I pulled over with my Hazard lights on immediately took pictures of his rego. I wasn't going to risk him being runner and denying hitting me. I took a picture of his licence and swapped details as quickly as possible, to allow for traffic flow, luck we only took up 1 lane out of the 2 and if people weren't rubber-necking the traffic would have flowed quickly.

  • I know, it's completely crazy and irrational… they should take photos of vehicle positions, then move off as quickly as possible.
