Got these, very happy with them. I have a beard, so it fits very very well

    • +7

Agree. I call mine a covid beard. Too lazy to shave as not going anywhere. Mine's a medium / large. Have a fat face. Comfortable enough for shopping.

    • Can confirm. Also in beard club.

    • +3

hmm.. the packaging on the site says "I'm not made for those with beards, because I won't fit securely"..

I suppose what sorta beard. If you are ZZ Top / Ned Kelly beard, Gandalf or even Manchurian then maybe not.

      • Dumbledore and its masks all the way down :P

    • +2

      I have a beard

Which means the mask is much less effective.

      • +1

They're 100% cotton, they won't be particularly effective anyway.

  • +3

Does it makes the glasses foggy due to breathing ?

    • +4

Yes, more so than other masks as this lacks a nose bridge.

    • Wear your glasses on the mask so as this sits onto it. As of this is holding the mask on your nose. Fog would reduce drastically.

    • a folded tissue along the nose bridge helps me. on other mask, cant say for this one.

    • Tip: sew a button just below the nose bridge to sit the glasses on

  • +3

Is this a new mask from Bonds? Because I got one of these and I wasn't impressed with the quality.

    • +1

These are 3-Layer ones…. By my understanding, the previous ones were merely 2-Layers.

      • +2

        2-Layers

They were but the outer layer were treated "with HeiQ Viroblock to increase barrier protection" whereas these don't seem like they are.

The other negative was the lack of a nose bridge. Guess it's still better than not wearing any mask though.

        • +5

Yeah, it is tough to find all requirements to be ticked off with masks. The Muji ones have a nose bridge.

          • @deal junkie: Is the muji one better quality? Is it worth it since it is 2 for $14.95?

            • @first in line: I have yet to receive the Muji ones ordered online but I'll let you know when they do arrive. I'm unsure if others have already received their order(s).

              • @deal junkie: I bought it in store today. It's good quality, 3 layer mask, comfortable to wear, has bendable nose bridge and you can reuse it for approx 30 times

                • @first in line: I merely just got my tracking number for my order so will probably get them soon.

        • is that why 2-layers only last 20 washes ?

whilst this has no coating, technically good for unlimited uses ?

          • @dcep: I think the 20 washes is for the coating. As a normal mask it should last longer than that.

I'm still waiting for delivery from this deal:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/556632

    • +1

      me too

      i mean…mine too

    • …Likewise.

    • +1

Yes I ordered these 10 days ago and still awaiting shipping !

      • I got mine last week..

      • If you still havent got it could be due to this:

Got a minute? An important note about your order:

We are experiencing some delivery delays due to the COVID-19 stage 4 restrictions in Victoria, where our distribution centre is located. We thank you for your understanding and patience.

    • +1

It might be worth contacting them. I was in the same boat and jumped on their online chat yesterday to see what the hold up was. It turns out they oversold them, and have no more stock to fulfil those orders made last week and created a refund for me :-(

Bit disappointing that I had to contact them for this outcome! You might get an automatic refund, but who knows how much longer they’ll take to do this!

      • Thanks. But according the ordering info, they shipped out my order and gave me an Aus Post tracking number, which says that it arrived at my local depot last week and I should receive them on Monday. (Friday was a public holiday here in BNE).

  • +1

They look like you're wearing panties on your face? 😷

    • They do. Bad fitting masks… guess if you have a big beard these might work

    • +3

      But now it's socially acceptable.

  • +13

Looks like you get two white and one black. I'd rather just have 3 black masks.

    • agree. Even with the bonds socks pack what they sent were whites with a bit stripe color! so hard to remove stains from them.

      • Dyes cost money 💵

        • So does the process to colour them white.

  • I'm feeling a bit paranoid that they won't fit.

I'm currently using these ones and they fit fine.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/556063

    • didn't fit me, now I have to live with the thought I have a beatlejuice head

      • At least your hair would be on point

  • +2

Do these new ones have a nose bridge?
Without it the mask is as good as a bandanna, whatever be the coating or layers.

    • How so?

They are fairly good fitting even without a nose bridge.

      • Breathing should occur through mask and nose bridge ensures that. So if a mask is causing fogging of glasses/has no bridge, means that not all breathes going through mask.
Product description doesn’t mention anywhere about it so I think these don’t have it.

        • +2

I have this brand from the previous deal (2 layer I think). I feel like it fits more snug than a surgical mask that has a nose bridge.

The biggest downside to these masks is they get warmer quicker than a surgical mask, so not the best in warmer weather.

          My experience anyway.

        • +1

A nose bridge helps capture some of your breath but it won't stop all of it coming through the top without a vent somewhere else, unless your breaths are very shallow and soft. I have tried a myriad of masks (bridged cotton, unbridged cotton, bridged n95, bridged n99, vented, unvented) and the only ones that stop my glasses fogging have vents. The bridge reduces speed of fog but not by much.

        • "ensures" is VASTLY overselling the benefits. Does it help? Yes. But that's about it.

    • It depends on whether you are wearing a mask for actual protection. Or just for something comfortable to comply with law.

  • Comes up as 1 pack $10.47 delivered for me :P

    • How did you achieve that?

      • Membership status

        • Must be buying a whole lot of undies.

          • +1

@bigbadboogieman: No used to be Pacbrands family and friends. It rolled over when they were bought by Hanes.
I didn't know until the other week when I ordered from them in the first time in years.

  • +3

This seems to be a normal mask. The previous version had 2-ply with HEIQ VIROBLOCK.

    • You can't buy previous versions now can you?

  • +5

Outer layer needs to be polyester or polycotton to resist moisture then 2 layers of cotton inside per Vic DHS is best guidance. Having 3 layers of cotton is just lazy on their part as polyester / polycotton isn't more expensive.

    • +2

I agree, plus it's also the WHO official guidance. There are very few companies that make them that way. The outer layer needs to be hydrophobic (e.g. polyester) so it doesn't absorb moisture from other people's breath/sneezes etc.

The TGA certification has been removed

I'm getting $28.38 because of shipping $5.95 (signed in). Is the free shipping over?

Edit: Never mind, it was a bug I think. Returned to store then back to the cart again and it had free shipping.

    • same thing happened to me…went to "continue shopping" then checkout and it worked as free shipping

Made in China, I guess they should know all about masks and viruses. Be good to buy some Australian product in these UNPRECEDENTED times.

  • -7

    made in china.
ive got a real problem buying PPE products from the country of origin

  • Hmm…mixed reviews. I guess Bonds made these using the left over unsold undies!!! To buy or not to buy …is the question!

  • +5

Great deal, but white is a deal breaker :(

    • 2 Black and a white I could do but they had to whitewash it.

  • +1

    …or just move to WA

    • Good idea, if you don't mind the cure being worse than the disease

      • I was in Perth for a wedding a few years back and desperately needed to go to emergency a few hours before my flight, but decided to fight through the pain until I was back in Sydney 😂

        • Reads… smiles… breathes in unrestricted fresh air 😛

  • strange, when you use the credit card payment option, it just shows three empty fields and does not specify which is for card number, expiry, CVV etc.

  • Anyone got any information on Bonds delivery speed?

    Are they slow ??

    • well…. on masks….

ordered 6/08/2020 not shipped….. but 16/08/2020 which is this deal appears to have been 'completed' so maybe its on the truck…….

none have been delivered so far…

So Make of it what you will…… :P

  • Can these be washed in washing machine inside the washing bags instead of hand washing each time?
Whats quality like for those who received it? I'm undecided whether to buy.

    • pretty sure most face mask are handwash only

      • im lazy and wondering if this would work

  • +1

Didn't see the 2*white and one black until after I ordered.

  • +1

I got a 3 pack of these and really unimpressed. There is almost no stretch in the face shield fabric or the ear elastics. By chance the M/L fits me nicely but is too big for everyone else in the house.

I’ve bought 2 different home made ones via Facebook, both cheaper and both MUCH better!

    Also some from here:-
    https://sharkskin.com/collections/envirus-face-masks

These were more expensive but are VERY well made and very comfortable.
