Great app with good reviews, I have been using this for a few months now, love the food diary component.
Correlate is a smart life-journal app that helps you understand why are you feeling sick thanks to a scientific algorithm. It's very effective with flu symptoms, allergy symptoms and also gut health.
As my Maths Professor used to say,
Correlation is not causation!
Plenty of examples of that online.
Just because eating a food, precedes a symptom (Correlation), doesn't mean it Caused the symptom. We are complex systems. There are many confounds!
The classic hypothetical example is:
Rates of drowning are higher in summer.
Ice cream consumption is higher in summer.
The two are closely correlated…
But does sales of ice cream cause the increase in drowning? The higher temperature is obvious, but wasn't considered - it's a confound.
So be careful of being misled.
In my own health, Drs have gone down the wrong path, costing me a lot of money & my health sometimes declined. Several times it was the treatment that was causing the symptoms.
Collecting data (using this app etc) can be handy to see patterns. That may give an insight into the real issue.
Just be careful with any interpretation. Look for other causes. Test of there is causation.
It's very easy to "prove" your own hypothesis, when an unobserved factor is responsible. That's the basis of some online theories!
General advice. Yet to try this app & see how the algorithm performs.
