The only 'budget' B550 ITX option, nice chunk cheaper than local, newer chipset, though a similar B450 board is ~$30-40 less so it depends on what you need.

The A520M-ITX/AC is all but confirmed, but pricing and availability isn't.

Lowest ever price, but the highest was $223.46 so…

    Some mITX love!

      • Ooooh noice! Thanks, dunno how I didn't see that. Saw the comment below but didn't get it.

I actually researched this earlier this week, been looking at it too but didn't see any solid reviews.

Reckon "It is advertised as having OC RAM support but anything over 3200 causes USB post errors" is not a problem now then?

I know it's not an overclocking board, but for a planned build i'd want to be able to OC RAM.

That appears to be a different person with different issues on the same motherboard.

In regards to their problems with overclocking ram, it could be anything, these are so new that it's hard to find solid, substantiated information.

I had a quick look and this is the only ASRock B550 motherboard that has not received a BIOS update, which is disappointing and a little concerning.

Microatx does not = itx unfortunately

good point.. I missed this was for an ITX board. I'm so used to posts for ATX boards.

  • Never seen that placement for the 8pin eps before

  • Why is mitx so much more expensive than matx when you’re getting physically less hardware.

    • +4

There's definitely a premium associated with it, but there are also some legitimate reasons.

They sell a lot less, ITX is a niche of a niche.

Less space means more complicated to engineer/design and also less components and room for cooling, leading to the need for better, more expensive components. The VRMs for example are better on this than the cheaper ASrock mATX and ATX motherboards.

    • MITX doesn't sell well.

To make it viable manufacturers build in premium features which can justify higher prices. They are usually cut down versions of midrange/premium ATX boards.

MATX on the other hand are usually ATX boards with so many features removed that the larger size is not necessary. They are the cheapest built models available

      Fanboy tax.

      1) Itx boards are a niche currently (though its gaining popularity). That means that it costs more to make due to the lower volumes. Additionally, they can charge more as it's got a greater component of enthusiasts.

      2) Due to the space requirements, they require fairly high end power delivery components to offset the lack of space. This board has a good vrm but bad heatsink. Though it can handle an 8 core 3700x at stock.

  • Probably waiting for the A520s

    • Me too, I hope there are more choices since every company other than ASRock chose the super premium route for B550, only ASUS and ASRock made cheap A320 ITX boards and I never even saw the ASRock available locally.

Why the f would you post this if the highest price was only 2% more?

    • ~$40 cheaper than local.

Awareness, I have noticed a few B450 ITX bargains recently, this is the closest alternative if you need or want B550.

    • Budju, no need to be rude. Let's try to be respectful to everyone.

  • Gigabyte A520I AC leaked, listed at 100usd, 30usd cheaper than this ASRock B550M-ITX/AC, one can only hope!

Slightly different rear IO, Gigabyte seems to have lesser VRM but a bigger heatsink, most other parts seem very similar.

      • Yeah it's starting to show up, I've seen $189 too.

The price seems acceptable, the ASUS A320I-K can be had for $135, this gets A520 and Wi-Fi, if we're comparing local pricing then it's ~$70 cheaper than the ASRock B550M-ITX/AC.

        • Would this be an upgrade over something like this? Looking up get a complete new build and slowly acquiring pieces - not really in a big rush..

          • @ishaboyavirski: Not really, the only thing the A520 has over the B450 is future compatibility.

Though it's really only one or half a gen extra, probably Zen 3+, before the jump to Zen 4 and DDR5, B450 support ends with Zen 3.

  • ASRock A520M-ITX/ac also has preorders locally now, $175.

    • Much impressed with the local price (PLE), that it is finally competitive =D (even though it is still expensive as an entry level board I suppose. I still remember the itx b350 board I have was at $150-$160 mark when bought new).

Edit: just released I got it mixed with with the b550 board lol. I guess the PCIe 4 and overclock support can be worth the extra $40, if budget allows? Although not sure if one will pair a high end GPU in this lower end of the market.

  • Slightly better pricing now due to stronger AUD, $207.50

  • Review is good with some compromises
