I really hate to see the term of sashimi grade, because there is no such standard. Well a bit cynical.

    • sashimi appropriate?

    • Sashmiliicous?

    • Fairly sure it just mean it's been frozen to kill off the parasites
I know that's what it means for salmon anyway

    • Sashimi-able?

    • Still better than fugu-grade.

    • Frozashimi?

  • What does sashimi grade mean?

      black belt.

sashimi-grade means that the seller has judged it the products are safe to eat raw. They are a Sashimi-Grade standard in Japan and this product is approved in Japan to eat raw. (Sashimi)

the seller has judged it the products are safe to eat raw

What credentials does the seller have to make the decision?

        • +1

same as the million sushi roll places around the country. Not a lot. You eat you don't die=sashimi grade

          • @gimme: If you eat and you do die, does that make you a Ghost of Sashimi?

    • As above; been frozen for a period of time to kill off the parasites. (well that's sushi-grade salmon, but I'd assume the same).

      • If you want salmon sashimi, just buy fresh Australian (Tasmanian) salmon as it is farmed and free from the parasites that can affect wild salmon.

But to be safe, cut off the exposed surfaces as you would for steak tartare or any other raw meat.

  • Are they fresh or frozen? Can you eat them raw?

    • Can you eat them raw?

      lol

    • Yes! This is Sashimi-grade so you can eat them raw. Good for Sushi!

It's Frozen. We use Tunnel freezer to freeze them in Japan so its still freash when you thaw.

        Are they safe?

You may have heard new development COVID-19 in NZ. A worker got COVID-19 by working in refrigerated storage.

How do these compare to Tasmanian scallops?

    • +7

They speak another language, but could be bilinguists.

  • How does it get sent, is it frozen freight all the way across the country to Sydney?

    • We use Tunnel freezer to freeze them in Japan and send by ship using frozen container.

      • Are they sashimi grade and how much per kg in Sydney CBD?

        • The best sashimi grade scallops Ive gotten were big and very thick, bought from a random Asian grocery store (they got it once, then never got it again, go figure) @$80/kg

  • hot damn this is cheap. Too bad Perth only.

  • To clarify, this is for pick-up in Perth only?

    • We do pickup and delivery. Delivery fees $15 around Perth area or Free if you order more than $150.

  • Corona Free? Unlike our poor bruh's in New Zealand who got Corona from fridge freight.

  • $50 is included the postage to Sydney?

    • Sorry this offer is only in Perth

  • Found a Japanese grocery store in Sydney sells them for $60/kg or $100+ free delivery within CBD.
