Their customer service doesn’t appear to be 5 stars:

Very bad experience with their customer service, even 0 is too much for them. Answer questions like copy and paste, restart your modem is the only one solution. After I gave low rate feedback at end of the call, the same person called me back straight away, asked me why gave him low rate feedback with a very high voice. Well, I canceled my contract with iiNet, keeping away from a company without a proper customer service.

  • Seeing I can't leave the house, the $10 for 6 months looks promising.

Any idea when this deal expires?

  • The Sign Up button doesn't work.

Also this seems to be just the same deal that TPG is offering: https://www.tpg.com.au/services/mobile-sim-only-plans

Given that both TPG and iiNet are effectively the same company, kinda doesnt make a difference who you go with I guess, both use the Vodafone network and charge the same amount for excess data usage.

How's their network coverage like compared to Telstra?

      • It's Vodafone…

        • +1

          Nope:
Internode network coverage: Internode's services are run over the Optus 3G and 4G networks, which reach about 98.5% of the Australian population.

          • +3

@ShipShapeRC: No, these new plans are Vodafone.

Why is Internode mobile moving to the Vodafone network?
As part of an exciting new partnership with Vodafone, Internode has begun selling plans that are powered by the Vodafone network. Simply put, this change allows us to deliver better value to our mobile customers. On these new plans, Internode will still be your mobile service provider and take care of all support and billing.

          • +1

            @ShipShapeRC: Yep, they're moving.

"Plan changes are no longer available on our legacy Optus mobile plans.

Our new 4G mobile plans are powered by the Vodafone network, with more data, call & text value than ever before."

      • Telstra covers much more than Vodafone however it really depends on where you live whether you need that extra coverage.

      • I believe they use optus network, which works better in some country towns and worse in others.

      • -1

I believe it is actually Optus they use, rather than Vodafone like TPG.

        • +4

They are transitioning from the Optus network to Vodafone apparently.

      • Vodafone is poor outside of major capital cities (when I lived in Brisbane & Sydney). Virtually non-existent on the North Coast and Mid North Coast of NSW where I now live. That was nine years ago. Looking at their coverage maps just recently it appears that there is not much improvement and would not be inclined to sign up again.

Perhaps others have had a good experience in regional Australia. I don't know anyone locally who uses Vodafone.

    • Internode is just a re-branded iinet? Their places are exactly the same

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/557501

    • Internode, iiNet and TPG are all the same aren't they? All their sim only plans are the same.

    • I'm seeing a better deal on the link you have listed, shows half price for the first 6 months for all plans on that page.

      • Yup. But there were conditions, so I didn't list it.

    • According to the website they are moving over to Vodafone…

"Plan changes are no longer available on our legacy Optus mobile plans.

Our new 4G mobile plans are powered by the Vodafone network, with more data, call & text value than ever before."

If you are in Brisbane I would avoid the Vodafone network.

Horrible speeds for most of Brisbane, occasionally you can get really good speeds but not worth it for the super slow poor reception connection most of the time.

      • +1

@samfisher5986… Had the same experience when I lived in Brisbane (inner city New Farm)… even worse on the Gold Coast… practically non-existent on the North Coast of NSW…

I hope TPG didn't pay a premium price to acquire Vodafone…

  • How does the iiNet network compare to the Woolworths Mobile Prepaid Network?
Tossing up if I should go with this, or the Woolworths Mobile Prepaid plan deal

  • No surprise that Westnet is also offering identical prices.

Mum is on the legacy $15 / 1 GB Optus plan, and it looks like their cheapest plan is now $20 after the discount period.

She never uses that much data, so she has zero interest in changing to the new plans. In fact, she can get better value from Woolworths, Aldi, or Kogan.

  • I assume the answer is no but does anyone know if it’s possible to port say from TPG to iiNet to claim the offer back to back or would a third party port out in between be required?
