Yamaha - ATS-1080 Black - 2.1ch Soundbar System $225 + Delivery (Free with eBay Plus/C&C) @ Bing Lee eBay

223

Great little soundbar, $30 more expensive than the Samsung HW-T450 Soundbar and missing the separate sub. But it has far more features e.g. Bluetooth 5, hdmi arc and aux . After owning both I think this is far better.

I have mine on my desk so the built-in subs are more than sufficient and the DTS Virtual:X 3D surround works really well too.

Has an option to add an external sub if needed too.

Way too expensive mate for OZB

  • Agreed, but sub is a big plus

  • I have and use this sound bar, I like it, I think it was slightly less for me, but not by much, still good value

  • Maybe I've been unlucky, but I've bought two of these, and have had the same problem with both. I'm not sure if it's the subwoofer that's blown, but after a few months I was getting massive distortion/feedback whenever I had the bass enabled, so I had to disable it. This happened with both soundbars.

That's just from watching tv shows at an average volume….never played any loud music on it. I'm now searching for something different.

    • Very strange - did you return them? Had mine for a year or so it’s been fine

      • No…the first one I just use outside in the garage with the bass turned off. The second one has only just gone bad in the past week. I'll probably just use that in the bedroom with the bass turned off as well.

I have no idea how I've been this unlucky because most people rave about these soundbars. As I said it's only happened with regular viewing….not anywhere near max volume. I'm surprised that this hasn't happened with anyone else.

I was looking at buying that Samsung soundbar the OP mentioned, but apparently that's worse than this. :-(

        • I’d recommend trying a few out in a store. Honestly if you have the room a good amp and 2 bookshelf speakers that are 3 way are better than a soundbar, I just don’t have the space :(. Less chance of failure too, like with amps it’s just a fuse that needs to be replaced most of the time

    • I’m sorta having issues with mine as well. I have it hooked up to my Apple TV 4K and when I try to navigate the menu to the right side of the icons, the sound quality drops, almost inaudible. It plays an audible sound based on the menu icons (left side of home screen plays a sound on the left channel, etc)

Is there a way to test this if it’s actually the right channel that’s stuffed? Also calling Yamaha is near impossible to talk to someone.

  • Unrelated to this deal but can anyone recommend a budget 5.1 channel soundbar that produces a solid bass thump? I purchased the Samsung HW-M360 soundbar and optional rear speakers, but find the bass lacking when connected to my Samsung NU 75" TV. Oddly the bass is more than ample when I pair my phone to play music.

Doesn't matter if the option you provide isn't on sale right now, happy to wait for a bargain. Just need to know what system will achieve the desired result.

Get an external sub. Is there a way to adjust the bass output on your television? I had a external sub already when I got my soundbar, connected it but it was too big, huge, overpowered it so I sold it. Check gumtree etc

      • I was trying to keep the setup clean, but I think an external sub might be the best option. The TV has a greyed out equalizer setting which I just found can be unlocked if I change the sound to standard. I'll play around with it and see if I can find the sweet spot 👍

These are regularly under $200 (I paid $180 for mine a year or so back and as other have said has been cheaper still), plus it’s no longer the current model.
    This isn’t a good deal.

  • get a Bose, batter quality for bit more.

if you have qantas frequent flyer, you might want to check out the store, I get 20% points discount from Bose product few weeks back

    • A bit more? Try more than double on the usual ozbargain price on this Yamaha.

This is regularly under $200, and has even been half this price

This has been cheaper in the past, i have this soundbar, and it has developed an annoying feature of turning off randomly leaving me with my tv speakers. I also have experienced feedback as well.

  • wicked for the money. it shits on my aldi tv speakers but i bought it last year as a deal from good guys for beween $130-$150 i think. i havent cranked the bass and shit on it fully because upstairs unit life

  • I had this. it’s a good sound bar but lack of seperate sub made me to switch to legendary Logitech Z623. I paired it with Yamaha WXC-50, and really enjoy it. Even without additional amp/DAC, I recommend Z623 over this.

  • Why is there so many + votes? Isn't this normal price?

  • +2

$225 is pretty much normal retail price

  • Needed a sound bar a week ago, pulled the trigger on this from TGG for same price.
Went with the YAS as I had a external Wharfdale sub ready and waiting.
Quite happy with it, noting it has been around and priced lower, but when you need it = you need it! 100% recommend adding a sub if you can, it really rounds out the sound nicely compared to the bass limit single bars can manage without a sub.
Anyone had any experience wall mounting it face out as opposed to sitting flat under the tv? I’m considering doing that, but wondered if anyone else has? The sound quality seems clearer when I have propped it up to test the spacing etc

    • I have mine mounted but not on the wall. My tv is on a wall mount, the speakers are hanging off it (underneath). Look on ebay search for "universal sound bar bracket)
