It was a joke. sigh. Because a bunch of Vics got $2k fines for playing pokemon and moving around without good reason.

Remote raid pass should be free 1 per day as well IMO. Shame you have to pay is you want any apart from the few free ones you got at the start
Yup quite a fair bit of changes, the latest being the ability to invite up to 5 friends to join your raid remotely (no distance limitation).
Other notable changes include remote raids, battle leagues (remote PvP), improved effectiveness (I believe around 1 encounter per minute) and duration (1 hour) of incense, opening 1.5x gifts, 1/2 hatch distance etc.
