  • That's far too small nowadays unfortunately. Will wait for larger sizes to get a bit cheaper over time.

      This is the smallest model…

    Fifteen guys.

Can't imagine it would be a gaming monitor replacement? If you want a TV for a console you'd probably get bigger even if you were in a tiny room?

depends how close you sit. I'll be sitting PC monitor distance, so I would prefer 40 or even 32" if possible.

      • +1

Yeah I use a 43" screen on my very large desk, and it's pushing the limits of comfort. I think 48" would just be too big.

    • its 4k 120hz and Gsync. Similar specs in a monitor currently go for around $3k at 27 inches

      • Not quite. The 43" ROG Strix XG438Q is 4K HDR 120Hz and $1,500 mark.

They just announced a newer version with HDMI2.1.

        • but that OLED goodness

        • +1

It uses a VA panel and only HDR 600 with no local dimming, it isn't even in the same league

      • Having seen some reviews of using it as a monitor, I'd prefer anything else. It sucks badly if using it for things other than gaming or movies.

  • It's perfect to replace my old 42 inch sharp tv mounted on the wall in the kid's lounge room. Once the Xbox Series X comes out I'll probably put locks on the door to the room and lock the kids out so I can play.

  • Holy shit, they actually listened. Well now I know what I'm getting.

    $2,500-2,750 i reckon. Alot for a monitor… but OLED goodness…

Rather save money for the next wave of mini-led monitors, OLED will be obsolete.

    • +1

Won't be coming anytime soon. The next best would be the upcoming X32, but that will be $3600 USD. You'll probably be saving for a while

    • Samsung actually stopped production of lcd panels and invested $10billion on qd-oleds. So no, oleds are here to stay.

    • I dunno. I think the smaller micro LED TVs and monitors will require active cooling. Not ideal in all environments.

If they can't get over the heat issues longevity will be an issue. Heat is the number one enemy of an LED.

  • Exciting!

It'll be this or the new Sony x900h.

  • Going to be putting this on a stand just behind my desk (Fitueyes Mobile TV Stand - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07L4LQHWN?ref_=pe_2361882_2972…).

There are a lot of people using this as a full-time computer monitor with a big discussion group here - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/lg-48cx-oled-4k-12…

Really good youtube review using this as a monitor here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z60rsm4qJGo

Thanks. Review on YouTube does say it isn't the best use case for an actual PC monitor. Maybe if you desk is very deep.

      • It seems to outright suck for things other than gaming / movies, even if you sit far enough back. That review killed any thoughts I had of using it as a monitor.

  • Any deep desks someone can reccomend for this monitor? Ikea have 80 as their deepest width

  • Im so glad they decided to release this here. For me, it was either this or spend $4k on an asus PG35VQ. Im going to wall mount this which will set it far back enough on my desk that it will easily be comfortable, and ill mount my current 32" on an arm that can be pulled in front for web browsing. No gaming monitor at the moment can come even close to touching this, and Ill be happy to pay $3k (or hopefully less) for this screen.

    • I'm happy to spend the additional money (if it comes to that) on a monitor. I can see this being ok for movies / gaming, but it has weird quirks as a task monitor :\ (Like dimming the screen if you are doing word-processing etc because it requires a certain amount of movement to keep it awake. )

      • Yeh for sure, thats why you need it as a secondary screen. I have the Dell S3220DGF as my primary monitor and intend to get the OLED only for movies and gaming. The OLED is likely to beat any of the currently available monitors for the gaming I do (adventure / rpg / nothing competitive). Ill wall mount the OLED behind my desk so I should be about 1m away from it, and Ill put the Dell on an arm so i can swing it infront of the OLED for web browsing / word processing. Id be very tempted by the 32" mini led monitors that are due out at some point, but Id be able to get 2 OLEDs for that price :)

My ideal monitor would be a 38" mini led (IPS or VA both have their advantages) 21:9 5040:2160 120hz with full array back lighting and 1000+ nits of brightness, but nothing like that has even been announced and Id hate to see what it would cost :)

Not after seeing this review I won't :\

    • Just buy the $10 MKJ39170828 service remote on eBay and turn off the auto dimming. Lots of videos on how to do it

  • Emails are going out this afternoon to those who registered their interest from LG.

    $2799

  • What's the go here. I wanna say that we should wait till it hits retail at least, but i think if we see no price drop on black friday, its likely it won't see any price drop until even the C11 series.

  • I'll bet that this won't hit retail stores and this will be a limited release. LG took everyone's interest in the TV, then likely approached the resellers if they would stock the TV and likely no one took LG up on their offer to distribute the 48".
