Receive a $30 Gift Card from eBay Plus

151

Yesterday, on 2 August 2020, I received a message from eBay with $30 Gift Card for being a member of eBay Plus. The card expires in 3 years. Please check your eBay message in case you also have received it.

If this is not a deal, please move it to the appropriate pages.

Yet another ebay deal I don't get. I don't know why I bother ebay plus. Have you been a member long?

    • It says my membership started in 2018.

      • Would you mind mentioning how much you use eBay? either dollar value or number of purchases in a certain period.

I use it a lot and still haven't got this targeted message. Wonder if they send to users with less usage to bump their interest

    targeted deal

    • Thanks. I am not sure how to mark this as Targeted.

Can OzBargain please mark this as Targeted and move this to appropriate pages?

I almost wonder if this is a campaign in itself, or just the previous "here's a gift card for being an eBay Plus customer who didn't cancel"

  • targeted.
It'd be interesting to see what their targeting criteria is..

i got a $10 one out of the blue for 'an express shipped item arrived late'. I never paid for express shipping nor had a late item but hey thanks ebay

  • Received this on the 27/7 (25/7 was renewal date), after my renewal this year (forget to keep track of renewal date).

I didn't get it on my Plus. I got the $30 gift card previously though which was the not cancelling membership one but it took a couple of weeks after the renewal date in my case.

    • Same. I contacted eBay and they said they'd been having issues with the gift cards coming out and that there was a ticket in for it. About a week later I received the card and email telling me 3 times.

I doubt this is a deal, more like a system catch up.

I've been an ebay plus member since around the time it first started. Ebay keep asking me to join Ebay plus even though I've been a member this whole time. Ebay is drunk.

    $49 fee. $30 Gift Card. $19/year as a member.

Not really worth it now. I still remember the awesome promos. Esp the Flybuys x 30 points per dollar / 10% cashbacks and the 15-20% off site wide deals.

Now its 5% off $50 min spend ** Selected items only.

i agree, eBayPlus started off pretty good when sellers played ball and orders were relative to non-plus listings + free shipping/returns. Nowadays, Plus listings are almost a joke for the most part, and goods seem to be either dropshipped or via untracked snail mail

Pretty much. The only thing left of value is the free returns via Parcelpoint (much appreciated since there's a dropoff point near my home which is open beyond Monday to Friday!), but not worth the $49/year (or even $19 net of gift card).

If you pay via Paypal, there is free returns. But of a process with paperwork as its via 3rd Party Telus.

          • @pegasusx: I usually use a stockpile of discounted gift cards :) Thanks OzBargain.

Yup. I think eBay are squeezing they sellers pretty hard for qualifications and fees.
There is a significant premium for items listed on eBay plus and sellers webstore. e.g. Sparesbox / MobileCiti.

I ended up going with Amazon Prime for a year, as some of the deals are amazing on clearance. Dont have to spend hours hunting for eBay plus "deals" to see if they qualify. Also Amazon are pretty good to refund/return. I've found most of the time they just refund and not waste time returning a faulty product.

        • ye haha thats exactly what i have done. I wasn't big on Amazon but knowing my sub was ending 1st August, i signed up to 30day trial and really enjoyed the service and ease of customer service at Amazon. Ended up to Amazon Prime for $59/yr + 10x Bonus points from American Express & Prime Video really got the job done…in saying that, eBay still offers unique items for better pricing than Amazon but theres no benefit with eBayPlus for me anymore.

Interesting one, I actually cancelled mine last week after sitting on the fence for quite a while. I really liked it at the beginning, easily got my moneys worth in my opinion particularly on some of the earlier deals. I cancelled within the 14 days of auto renew (no renewal coupons or anything received) and when they asked why am I cancelling I just said I can't really find any deals on there anymore and the seller I wanted to buy from in the current promo (appliances online from memory) wouldn't ship to my address.

Their response was : ok thanks for letting us know, I'll process your cancellation.

If they had of said they'd give me a $30 voucher to keep it I would of kept it. If there is one of those "sign up to plus and get a free voucher" I'll think about it again but they've gotta do something to hype up the subscription again.

    Thanks for the post.

I just recieved this offer, it was a real borderline decision for me but I chose to renew my subscription for a net cost of $19/year. I have noticed I am not buying too much these days from ebay but I might make my money back with christmas shopping so it's worth a gamble. Amazon seems to be getting my hard earned cash lately.
