I just received an offer from One Big Switch offering "17% LESS than the Govt Electricity Reference Price!"
It would appear that 17% less than the Govt Electricity Reference Price is available to everyone directly (refer to the https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/).
I wish the electricity companies would pay the referring commission directly to the end user, rather than giving it to a third party for seemingly doing nothing.
The goverment reference price is the "expensive rate". You can do better than 17% off.
If the referred one is the Victorian one, it's the legal maximum price.
You realise One Big Switch is also a 3rd party receiving a commission?

I'd be looking elsewhere for my electricity requirements.
I've been with Kogan Energy lately and their prices are very competitive frankly.
A friend recommended me and I have never looked back again.
Kogan has got no locked price/contracts, which means they could raise the price out of nowhere. Make sure you check every bill you got.
Not specific to OP offer but I despise "discounts' on energy plans. It's a nasty way to conceal the real price.
