  • Bought this today. It works well, just a reminder this comes with the K adaptor for Karcher in the box. I accidentally bought 2 ☹️

Not sure of the size of orifice inside this lance.

    • yeah it comes with 2 adapters, the kacher k series and not too sure what the other one

  • Any opinions on performance of the Bowden's vs, the Meguiar's snow cannon?

    • Haven't tried the Meguiars one, but the Bowden's works quite well. I definitely over-do the recommended ratio of snow-foam, but it gives a very thick layer of suds.

meguiars one is reportedly not as high quality. But then again, you're also not dealing with a (profanity) senior management.

    • bowden is much superior.. meguiar looks like any generic chinese brand. both does the job for me

    • +3

MJJC seems to be the best lance but bowdens is ok.

Gave me thick foam but not super thick like the mjjc

      • I also have the MJJC which is great and can be purchased cheaper on eBay.

        • +1

AliExpress is cheaper but shipping will take months and months due to covid.

          • @[Deactivated]: For reference the gerni branded one at Bunnings is only 20 bucks, it's is all plastic

            • +2

@Jackson: everyone who buys this knows exactly theres a cheaper alternatives in bunnings, ebay, amazon etc.. but the quality is so much different. i dont think you ever use one of this.

            • @Jackson: Night and day difference between the gernie/Karcher fj6, fj10c vs these Lance's

But if you're running a $99 pressure washer then they will all perform poorly.

              I wouldn't recommend anything less than a k4.

Both fairly useless, I have one that doesn't get used.
They're great at covering your car in a layer of foam … but they don't actually do any cleaning. It's zero more effective than the normal bucket method 🤔

      • +2

I mean, foam is called a pre-clean/wash for a reason, preps the car up for bucket cleaning and gets rid of loose dirt, so that when you do go scrubbing with your mitt, you're not scratching your paint with that loose dirt.

        • so does hosing with water though, if you hit it with a hose and it doesn't come off chances are it's not going to come off cos some foam sat on it for a few minutes

          • @Jackson: if it doesn't come off then use a pressure washer and that will come off, might take a few seconds to get that one stubborn bird crap off you paint…

      • I thought the same when I first used mine, any the effort it takes to set up the pressure washer etc

  • i have meguiars, not too bad, a bit leak at the adaptor area, use some tape will fix it. also i use meguiars gold class which does not make very thick foam, maybe should try bowden's snow job, next time

  • Is this just the cannon attachment itself? Or does it come with their foam product inside?

    • you get a sample with the canon but only enough for 1/2 washes

  • Some Science here folks… Soap suds or foam does not equal better cleaning the bubbles do nothing… read on… it is interesting we have been told or brought up the more suds the better?

That was a great read, but I don't think the same logic/science can be applied to car washing tools, I'm not expert but I assume the suds/snow mean the detergents when suspended by the foam are in contact with the surface of the car for longer to better act on the dirt/grime/oils without wiping/scrubbing/scratching required.

      • I have one of these - the amount of scrubbing required is exactly the same as without a foam cannon.

        • Then you're seriously doing something wrong Nom.

My car comes out so clean you can eat off it. I don't even dry my car or scrub it.

Comes out way better than the local car wash or Magic Hand Carwash.

          • @[Deactivated]: Oh mine comes completely clean - I just don't find the foam actually helps 🙂

      • Yes and no basically when the soap forms bubbles it is doing nothing to clean… until it bursts. Same with any cleaning products. So less foam means more soap in the water which is what does the cleaning. If that makes sense? Not an expert car detailer but my volunteer job as a laundry technician at a Dog Shelter has taught me alot about different detergents and washing. Science nerd here… the difference in how detergents wash our dog bedding made me go and do a heap of research on the topic. Almost all of our washing products are donated hence I noticed some really foamy top dollar brands worked less well than some cheaper brands which produced less foam. Gotta have something to do while waiting for 4 washing machines to run full cycle… Oh then there is playing with the dogs thats a bonus…

Bought mine on ebay and as far as I can tell the brand names are the same thing with a fancy expensive sticker on them. Just make sure you get the right connector.

    • I agree

So this is just soap for your car that retails at $99

  • Can get them off eBay for cheaper

  • After lots of research we got the Italian made Autobrite foam.gun. Very happy with it. We use.it with Chemtech product.
    https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/autobrite-premium-snow-fo…

    • That would be a quality item, just like some of the brass motored pressure washers that come out of Italy.

They even make great diesel engines too

  • Noooo…. Full price now
    Missed out

    • Check my link above. They are cheaper from China with the correct adaptor if you don't have a Karcher.

I purchased an ebay foam cannon and use it with Snow Job (at recommended dilution) and a $59 homelite 1400psi pressure washer. Must say it works great and produces foam as thick as any I see on YouTube vids using more expensive and powerful washers/cannons.

Whether it works or not to reduce dirt or dust or make it easier to remove is another story. If you have a nice layered ceramic or hard wax finish on your car, then dust and dirt will be easier to remove anyway. Maybe the combination of good surface finish and snow foam is what makes it more effective as a prewash for loose dirt/dust.

    • Hows the homelite, my mate got one he said its pretty good for the price.. and which type of adapter do you use for the homelite?
