It says orders over $100 get free shipping… not sure if we can find stuff at great bargain to get the total to $100…
8.80 for under $100.
"However, if your order totals above AUD $100, we will ship it to you free (i.e. no postage charge)."
Anyone crazy enough to buy 34 vests which, qualifies for free postage and share them around?
Just buy a decade worth of socks and undies?
In a Rivers sale 2yrs ago my house mate did that, he still has unopened ones.
For good reason, they're men's vests!
what's wrong with mens vests?
those vests are U.G.L.Y!!!
I quite like the retro look. If we can arrange an OzB group buy for 34+ of these vests then I'll take 5 of them, lol.
Rivers on Church Street, Richmond: last Monday I was there and I looked at this trouser "Rock N' Roll Fit" http://www.rivers.com.au/catalogdb/blowuppage.asp?SP=25281&P…
The price was far below $20 (around $15), about 8 pairs left but I didn't buy because they only got small sizes same as the ones they have on the web site.
So why is it now ON SALE on the web for ONLY $29.95 plus delivery??
Big neg for me…..
Rivers 'Original' prices are all BS…
So why is it now ON SALE on the web
I don't think they are claiming to be on sale……
They are in the clearance (ie online) store…… but they don't seem to be on special at the moment. Specials normally have "promo ends blah/blah/2011' underneath.
Why do you want me to lol a lot?
I saw the trouser with my eyes and the price is far cheaper than what is on the web site.
OzBargain is for good bargains not to listen "they never claimed, or clearance etc. etc."
If you are interested in that item (and perhaps you would be better check others) you should go to any River shops but not online.I am not denying you saw them for whatever price you saw them for….. you saw them in a clearance store who, for whatever reason, chose to price them at $15…. perhaps that particular store had too much stock of those particular trousers in less popular sizes.
All large stores, coles, kmart, target etc, do this… often reducing prices on unpopular stock until it sells….. a number of those deals have been posted here, officeworks is another that does it a lot.
The clearance store pricing seems to have a mind of it's own and reminds me somewhat of an op shop…. the ticketed price often bears no resemblance to what you actually pay. I don't visit them for that reason.Having said that, the fact remains that they are not on sale at the moment in the online store….
Well, we are here hunting for bargains so I'm alerting others that in store is MUCH cheaper than what is online (for some items) and as I said (you missed it) I didn't buy it because they (in store) have the same sizes that you can see online = TOO SMALL!
Also you missed I said that they (in store) got about 8 pairs and not big stocks.
And yet the "clearance" store is River same as the online one, so again people check in store before you buy online don't get caught.
Well, we are here hunting for bargains so I'm alerting others that in store is MUCH cheaper than what is online (for some items) and as I said (you missed it) I didn't buy it because they (in store) have the same sizes that you can see online
I appreciate that, and your information is useful…. however, again, you have added a neg, which means that it is less likely that people will see the post, and therefore also miss your information.
I would also add that there seems to be little consistency between the online and physical clearance stores. Just be aware that even though you see it online, there is no guarantee that there will be stock in store…. if there is, you will have to seek it out, as the staff often seem somewhat unaware of stock positioning, hence my 'op shop' reference previously.
I would advise…. if you know your size and have an idea about what suits you (or, as in my case, don't care), then I would recommend the online store, as you will undoubtedly become frustrated by the apparent hap-hazard functioning of the bricks and mortar clearance shops.*
Ahhh finally you came to the point, my neg vote.
If you have a problem with that, use the report button and please stop telling non-sense.In store is cheaper, full stop.
of course, as you and others seem well aware, the neg vote does attract more attention. Which, in lots of cases seem to be the only reason for using it.
However, in this instance I was querying your claim that a product was on special in the online store, which was inaccurateuse the report button
tis better for people to understand the uses of the neg vote and use it appropriately, than for people to have to report and moderators act.
"you have added a neg, which means that it is less likely that people will see the post"
and then you said
"you and others seem well aware, the neg vote does attract more attention"
I see you trolling so much with no sense.
of course it will attract more attention, from members who do not wish to see good deals disappear through inappropriate negs. Such members are generally those who log in and check new posts rather than just the front page.
The majority of the community will either not log in, or just view the front page…. they are the ones who will miss out on the post, and also your wise offerings.I see you trolling so much with no sense.
I'm not sure why you feel the need to add phrases such as this, it adds little to a discussion.
Trolling, you need to study its meaning because you're saying non-sense and the reason is because you don't like me to neg this deal.
Again if you don't like the voting system, just talk with the mods but you preferred to keep trolling again with non-sense such as "of course, as you and others bla bla", and again "Such members are generally those bla bla".
You came here with the clear intent to add a discussion, I just told what I saw with my eyes, you don't like it? Your problem! Why do you care so much about my neg vote, perhaps with explanation?
All of this tells me something like you got any business with River?
You know what, all of this thread is even not valid because in shop prices are same as this deal, River do always sales, in store some items are even cheaper!Have a think about this……
for your first post, to which you attached a neg.A possible alternate reality….
Whilst the prices in the clearance store seem ok….. I've found that they can be cheaper in the bricks and mortar stores….. I was in the Richmond store last monday and found these pants, etc etc etc
no neg, good useful information, cudos to you for providing that information, less likely for you to gain a reputation as a serial negger/troll, less likely the op will feel attacked, more likely people will have the confidence to post deals, community gets back to being a supportive community, etc etc etc
wins all round…..
It wasn't a brick & mortar store but a River shop, you seem to intentionally not mention my words so to troll on this topic.
Also you "pretend" to tell me how to write my impressions and experiences in a forum? Who are you to make new rules here?
This shows how arrogant and presumptuous you're, can you imagine anyone ruling the words others must say in order to comply with your business same as you do, we wouldn't need a forum anymore!
You aren't able to rule people in your everyday life so you came here and pretend to rule me? How pity and poor!Read OzBaragin rules instead of trolling, this thread isn't even valid because in shop prices are the same or cheaper.
But I don't mind, I just told my experience, instead you're trolling with non-sense.I'm pretty sure now you got a serious business with River that is why you don't like my neg vote.
PS: I'm even not negging "any" of your non-sense words because I prefer to use my daily allowance for a more useful purpose.
Perhaps you misunderstand…… Any shop in the high st is a brick and mortar store, including Rivers stores. They are made of brick and mortar, a physical store as opposed to an online store.
I don't 'tell' anyone how to write anything… merely offering a possible alternative way of thinking.
I'm even not negging "any" of your non-sense words because I prefer to use my daily allowance for a more useful purpose.
me too….. I will neg the one comment in any thread that I think likely to get the neg downvoted, negging the others would be a waste.
Is anyone else forced to use "www" to access the site?
"Please note all orders must be $20 minimum (before postage)"
rivers always have stuff on sale and they always have that up to 70% on their website lol but the vests are new
new? do they sell used clothing too? Salvos! Bin Divers!
That is right so the title should be fixed and pointed to the vests and not all items.
Sorry OP it isn't direct to you but River here is so much ripping off!
hey i get most of my clothes from rivers they got some good bargains in their clearance stores, i would never go to a retail store but their clearance stores are the best!
I'm not convinced of the bargainatiousness of this particular post…..
The clearance shop is always 'up to 70% off'.undies and socks from here are good, and the plain t shirts, (when on special), aren't bad. They usually go for $3 when on sale
Well done andy19363 - a new word for the dictionary "bargainatiousness". If we use it often enough it will get in.
I thang yeow…..
Are these guys STILL going broke…?
Yeah, and I wish they would hurry up about it. They male voice on their annoying ads sounds like a creepy pedophile.
Keeps you up at night does it?
Just don't turn your "back" to the TV when that ad is on and you'll be fine…
Rivers is without exaggeration the worst build quality of any clothing I have ever owned.
There is no price that makes their cr-p worthwhile.
Everything I have bought from them has held up well.
Worst example I had was the inner sole of a pair of shoes was destroyed after literally a day. Holes right through it.
I bought those when travelling as I forgot to take a pair of shoes with me, thankfully I never intended them to last for long. Didnt bother trying to return them, would have been a waste of travel time.
Who's the designer/buyer in Rivers for their clothing colour combinations/logos? They should be sacked.
They'd sell a lot more if they stuck to simpler colour combinations/plain colours and non-silly prints/logos.They got plenty t-shirts but I don't like none of them (maybe is only me) and yet they should try something different prints.
Cheap vests! Might get a few but wonder if postage will kill the deal. Any idea how much?
