Folks,

First post - I believe the game is $39.99 if you previously bought Arkham Asylum on Steam.

It' actually shows as $39.99USD for me - if it isn't for you, you may need to log in (or you haven't bought Arkham Asylum on STEAM before)

Good deal - released in 3 weeks.

  • Shows as $49.99 for me - might want to change title to reflect price only if purchased Arkham Asylum previously…

  • Updated.

  • Still trying to find out what DRM platform this is using. As the store page seems to show steam achievements one would think that it uses Steamworks. However the developers have been adamant that it will be using GFWL. The Steam store page also indicates that it will be using Securom which is totally unnecessary if Steamworks is the underlying platform they plan to use.

Either way if they plan to use GFWL I won't be touching this with a barge pole.

    • Could be completely wrong here but if you get it through steam it prob uses steamworks and if you buy a hardcopy it uses GFWL

Also just bought this for xbox for 60 bucks just before i saw the deal ohwell its not released till mid november on PC

      • Nope definitely not. If a game is to use Steamworks (this means access to Steam achievements and Steam cloud) then all versions will use it whether boxed or digital. This would therefore make the physical box version nothing more than an ornament as once the key is entered in Steam will take care of the rest.

      • You can have steam games that force you to have GFWL simultaneously.

For example, dawn of war 2.

It's a freaking mess when they combine copy protection schemes like that. Thankfully, you can create an offline GFWL account to ignore the trollop.

        • DoW2 didnt use steamworks. Achievements and saves were managed through GFWL. The game was merely sold through Steam which doesn't automatically make it a Steamworks game. Dow2 retribution however does use Steamworks and therefore gets Steam cloud and steam achievements.

A little confusing I know but there is a difference.

  • What is the point of pre-ordering a downloadable game at the standard pricing (50 bucks is the standard for new release game in the US, although it has been trending up). Its not like steam is going to run out of copies to sell.

  • Currently $99.95 on Steam or 20% off if you own Batman Arkham Asylum or LEGO Batman on Steam.
