Why Do Very Few Prebuilt PC's on OzBargain Have RX 5700's? (Looking for Prebuilt PC's to Suit Xiaomi 34" Monitor)

So I impulsively bought the 34inch Xiaomi 1440p 144Hz long boy, then realised I probably need to upgrade my 7 year old PC to get the most out of it. Being a FreeSync monitor I think an AMD card is the way to go but it seems there are way more 2070 builds on sale. Is the 2070 better value? Do I really need FreeSync?

If you have any prebuilt pc suggestions please let me know. Something quiet with a compact/minimalist case would be best.

Nvidia G-Sync is generally FreeSync compatible. I'm running an LG 144Hz FreeSync monitor with no problems using G-Sync. Your mileage my vary and not all monitors are perfectly compatible.

From my experience G-Sync/FreeSync is not worth sacrificing GPU power for. I'd stick with the 2070 for performance and driver stability.

    • Awesome, thanks for the help.

    • Well that's not quite correct gsync requires an Nvidia scaler module in the monitor, however, Nvidia has added support for freesync, so not an issue. AMD is generally better value in terms of raw performance however there's definitely a trade-off AMD drivers are usually kinda hit or miss

  • 5700's are on the way out (due to be replaced by RDNA2 in Sep), so minimal production and stocks (which leads to higher prices)!

  • If you into emulator AMD CPU and Nvidia Graphic is the way to go, Switch, gamecube, PS3 and later generation emulators take advantage of multicore and multi thread (the more the better) and most implement in OpenGL and Vulkan as experimental for now

    • Awesome to hear I ended up going with a 3600 2070S. Could you point me in the right direction of a forum/post with more info? Last time I played with Emu's was the virtual boy 15 years ago.
