Yes the ram is soldered into the laptop motherboard chasis and you cant add additional ram.
well its a sub 1kg laptop… you're going to make sacrifices
have a look if they have a 16gb sku? if not then decide if 8gb is enough
I've got one of these from a similar deal at Christmas. For $1k i don't think anything else comes close.
Was regularly crashing but updating the drivers seemed to have cured the issue / or me uninstalling some software, not sure which.
I'll be tempted to buy another in the 15" version if it receives the Ryzen 4000 chipset.
I had the i7/16GB/512GB version of this from the $1,600 eofy deal, unfortunately had to return if when it became faulty (GPU/Display issue).
I was very happy with it and would recommend it. Only drawback was the touch screen & fingerprint reader didn't work under Linux.
I also have this laptop from the 1K deal at Chrissy. Amazing bit of kit, so tiny & light for a 14" laptop.
8GB of RAM doesn't affect me but I am sure I would notice slightly less tabs having to refresh themselves after long periods of inactivity if it was 16GB.
Screen is really nice and bright as well outside which I love.
Ugghhhh… thanks to grooovy I must hand back my OzBargain membership and forego my reputation as a "good shopper", and will forever hang my head in shame. I did the unthinkable… I entered a Harvey Norman store… and even worse, after waiting 15 mins to be served by someone, bought one of these.
There was a hand sanitizing station set up at the stores entrance, asking people to sanitize both as they entered and as they exited. There isn't enough sanitizer in the world to remove this dirty feeling I now have.
Bloody nice laptop though - and amazingly light. I've been looking at the various Lenovo's that have been available but don't want to wait months. Although this doesn't tick too many of my boxes, the price vs the weight / screen quality / build quality (metal not plastic) made me pull the trigger - even though I've tarnished my soul forever more now :(
this deal finished last night. HN have jacked it back up to $1799
What does it mean by soldered RAM? Does it mean that I cannot add an additional RAM?
